They don't get anything out of it really - DDoS attacks are normally caused by pure jealousy. Simple really, someone gets jealous of DP's success and wants it to stop, this results in a DDoS attack. Actually in some cases they've allegedly caused damage to hardware, (I believe the planet once got hit by a DDoS causing several thousand pounds worth of damage). You're right, normally they're done by 13 year old script kiddies who can't get a girlfriend so find pleasure online, sat safely behind their computer screen trolling forums where nobody can do anything to them. It just might be Yea the last ddos attack was kinda my fault for insulting the Admin of the Attackers forum 'pathetic life'.

Yeah. I got that a few minutes ago as well. Also the link to the "popular" thread 404's now, maybe thats the page they were hitting.. Maybe they did a stumble or D[igg}dos on the page just to add a few more connection attempts and that's why it was so popular.. Anyway, the page is gone now.. so that's probably a good thing. Their forum is hosted at Limestonenetworks I know 1 of the Mangers there but he is unavailable and their live chat is offline. Ill keep trying to get ahold of someone there.
Think I just found where he picked up the script in another hacker forum. Its called Vbulletin Brute Force... and he was asking about it yesterday: http://forums.hackerscenter.com/showthread.php?p=6385 Maybe knowing the script (the code is posted here) will help.
