I was thinking about developing an SMS - email (Cellphone Text message to Email and vice versa kind of service when I bought this domain ages ago. Every user would have to send an sms from their mobile phone to 2345 which would be redirected to say and their service would be automatically activated with their cellphone no. say being their email id. They could then send and receive short messages on the move to the office computers etc.

Well, when it came to putting this grandiose plan into action, I found out (a bit late) that I would have to individually tie-up with every cellphone service provider first. And that was just next to impossible due to the resources (i.e. money ) required for such a project.

And that is the story of 2345.com

So...I just let the domain sit there and what do you know, I was getting over a 1000 visitors from China! I guess 2345 means something in China. Anybody care to enlighten me?

 

I'm not sure personally, but why having it go to Default cpanel why not throw it to a parking page, if you are getting over 1k users from china put them to use get them clicking on some ads and making you some money

I am actually using it for nameservers now on my dedicated server. I tried parking it at Sedo for the traffic but hardly made any money as they would'nt pay for China traffic. I see there is a Chinese site at www.2345.net, maybe that is the reason for the traffic?

 

Most likely the reason, their alexa is so-so but I'm not sure how many foriegn countries if any support Alexa or use it, maybe drop them an email and see

Thanks epic. I am already negotiating with 2 chinese guys on different forums and hopefully this deal should be closed in a day or two. If nothing works out, I'll try and contact the 2345.net owners (I doubt one of the chinese people who are interested in the domain represent them).
