I'm presuming it's just like any other cheque. Take it to YOUR bank and process it?

If I need a Citibank too, I will also be screwed!

Apparently because that is the issuing bank but I am with you that it makes no sense. Why does the issuing bank matter (except for cashing times perhaps)

I have zero problems with my citibank Google check
I just give it to my life-long ( swiss ) bank for cashing in

ANY serious bank always accepts checks from all over the world - any country any bank by default - else checks would make no sense at all. checks are made for payment to anyone anywhere to be cashed at any recipients bank. if you have a bank that refuses such common banking practice then:

CHANGE Y O U R bank and take a reputable local bank that does normal international banking

ask BEFORE you open an account - if the new bank processes checks to be deposited on your new account and ask for the fees they charge for a citibank check - in international banking with checks around 1000$ it should be 0.5% - 1% maximum per check or a flat minimum fee in the range of 5-10$

In my country you have to wait between 5-6 weeks until you get the cash. Here *almost* any bank accepts the check. We do have CitiBank branches but they only accept checks from within the country. Sucks, eh?

You don't need to have citibank account for encashing your google checks. Citibank is issusing checks for google and you can submit it to any bank in the world for clearing. The only benifit that you will have if you could get the citibank account is that your checks will clear a littel faster as otherbanks will be sending the check to citibank for clearing.
So nothing to worry if you don't get citibank account. Just deposit your check normally to any bank in world and you will receive the amount in that account in 2-4 weeks.

Hope it helps to clear the doubt.

In your case google accept to pay thru EFT, but in my country that method is not accepted by Google. With me, only check and dont have any others way to get money.

When I bring my google check to my bank, they said they could't cash for me.

    as said before
no need to whine, there is always a solution - change the bank - go from bank ot bank and ask them aobut their policy on cashing international bank checks - then open a new account with the bank that does the job for you
every country has different banks with totally different policies
