I just launch my new site few days back and I am not expecting(not getting) any traffic from google. I am just curious to know how long did it take for you to receive Google traffic after you launched brand new site/blog.

if you want it in just a week, you need to keep promoting your blog/site eagerly in a day..

One week or two is sufficient for a start, But it will keep on building as google will keep on discovering new content on your website and improving your site's reputation is SERPs.

I've had blogs that have received traffic from Google blog search the same day they were launched. But for this you need a hot topic and some high authority backlinks. Normal Google traffic will start to come after about 10 days to 2 weeks.

About 30-60 minutes although I never usually go after anything competitive, I only go after buying keyword phrases. You guys can battle it out trying to get high traffic and I'll pick up the buyers and make easy money. lol

After the crawl it will be decided. Traffic depends on you r site. If optimized well and visible to users through search engines can help you out otherwise dont expect anything from search engines.

first things first. what niche is your website in? Also what kind of site is it? Blog or static site.

If you are in a highly competitive niche... for example... computers, the chances of ranking high on Google for a new site is slim and as such will take time and lots of work.

If however your site is based on some uncompetitive terms with good content, then you can rank high in a couple of days after google has indexed your site.

So...the type of niche and the competitive nature of the keywords related to that niche is a key factor in determining how fast you can start getting traffic.

Then...if your site is based on a blog, you could get traffic faster as Google blog search is quite big now.

Another important question is... how long did it take for your site to get indexed? Are your site pages indexed by Google?
Without the site indexed, there will be no traffic.

From my experience, one to two weeks can be expected, depending on if you submit it to social bookmarking sites and twitter. With any site launch, its good to use something like onlywire and twitter to get it noticed by Google quickly. Submitting a sitemap can help, but letting google find it from following a link off digg, reddit, etc will work best and get it indexed fairly quickly.

Of course you do have to get some other inbound links to it as well or else you'll never end up in the top 50 search results for any semi-popular keyword.

Maybe I'm paraniod but I'm nervous about building too many links right after a site is launched. I keep hearing stories about Google sandboxing sites that get too many links too fast. I'm not sure if its true or if these people just aren't as good at SEO as they think but I usually play it safe and don't get too many links the first week or 2.
