Google Dance Happening Now And GoogleBot Crawl

Discussion in 'Google' started by Tarakan, Sep 19, 2009.

With the Google Dance happening right now, I can see that the googlebot crawlers are frequently accessing my web server. one googlebot crawler originates from Mountain View california and the other is from hanoi vietnam..

Since the past few days, I have been losing entirely all google traffic due to this google dance which I hope will be settled by end of next week or so.. google has been dancing quite frequently and subsequently affecting traffic to my website..

anyone notices the same pattern going on? 2 weeks dance, 2 weeks ok, 2 weeks dance.. etc...

I think Google dance happens every day on different sites. :)
Just do what you used to do, you could not control Google. IMO.

How do you check this on your server - when and who asked for data from your server? Is there some log that shows this?

Yeah me to same question like Lotos1. I don't really know much about Google Dance. Can anyone explain a bit in details.

I have noticed wild fluctuations in the SERPS for the last 60 days. Since Google appears to be running behind on indexing I assume the fluctuations are due primarily to an algorithm change or the Caffeine update.

You can check the fluctuations sometimes by searching on www2.sandbox.google.com

Yes, I am agreed and I think the reason behind it might be Google Caffeine. My sites are higher in http://www2.sandbox.google.com though.

Looking at my Webmaster Tools it appears as though new pages and links are not getting indexed as fast as they normally do. My guess is that Google is running behind on the Caffeine update. I am not seeing consistent updates to data in Caffeine or normal Google SERPS and no real evidence or a finished migration to Caffeine.

I am closely monitoring one of our sites with a lot of new original content and new IBLS and I have seen no real change in the past 60+ days.

Hopefully Google will get the kinks ironed out on Caffeine soon and eliminate the stagnate results.

I'm not seeing GoogleBot crawl changes on my small catalog.
(May not have trickled down to my level yet!) :)

But, there must be a PR 'prelude-to-update' going on right now. I'm seeing fluctuations on lower ranked sites that have been rock-stable for nearly a year. (PRs of 0, 1 and 2.) Also more of the PR datacenters are timing out now too. I use UrlTrends to check them all.

Like I said, I have been watching one of our sites with a heck of a lot of new content and IBLs and I see no change in the SERPS or indication in Google’s Webmaster Tools that these changes have been picked up.

just go to hitslink.com and sign up for a free 30 day trial demo.. its a web analytics software whereby you get to see your visitors' traffic including all details.. thats where i get to see googlebot coming in to access my website.. even their location is being shown. the bots will randomly come and access your webserver as and when they like.. i have no control over that.. its all up to google.

I think awstats also gives the information on traffic. I have this in my 2 hosting control panels, one is hspehere and other is cpanel. I can see which bots are visiting my sites.

What are you doing to your site that could have potentially caused you to drop in ranking so much?
