I was ranked 3rd for a set of keywords now.. i'm not even in the first 10 pages? What might have happened? Does anyone know? But my site is still indexed though. I'm really confused.
To get a stable position, you will have to get some solid backlinks. Try to get some links from pages that have high PR themselves. Adding useful content can help you get natural links which helps a lot in ranking of a site in SERPs.
I was stable till i did a 3-way link exchange with my other PR3 sites, and the next day i was gone. Hm.
It happens to new sites sometimes. It's on page one, then seems to disappear in the rankings for a few days or weeks, then it pops back up on the same page. I've had it happen and didn't do a thing, and and returned to the first page a few weeks later, many people experience the same thing. As long as the Google bot is still visiting your site you'll probably reappear where you were.
How have you been promoting your site lately? I agree with bob25 that it does happen to new sites sometimes but it also depends on other stuff that you might have been doing that you aint supposed to(...)
If it is a new site you have then this is quite common. An article shoots on the first page, get loads of traffic and then sinks down big time. If this is an important article (blog post) for you then I would bookmark that page at a few sites and point some forum links with good anchor text at it. Maybe you won't fly back, but you will get that ranking back eventually.
As others are saying, it is not rare that a new site does well, then sinks. Why? Some call it the sandbox. Some attribute the drop to the last thing they did, (as if Google is really that responsive). I have my own theory. With a new site, Google has no PageRank or relevance history, so Google gives that site the benefit of the doubt and ranks it well. Plus, the owner is probably promoting it as much as possible which gives Google the impression that it might be an important site. However, a few weeks or months later, after Google has calculated the sites' importance and relevance compared to the other billions of pages online... it sinks to where it rightfully belongs. That's it. Get more links. Bompa
Beautiful! I cried tears of joy :*) Haha, but seriously, that's a great description there, you know what you're talking about
You must be check targeted keyword density of a specific page (it must be between 2-9) for better position
While this statement is not entirely true it is close enough to hold water in the bucket .... PR and serps have nothing to do with each other. It is true that PR may have some affect but it is not big! Not even worth thinking about .. so many other things have much much more importance. Page load, html layout, proper page formation, good meta tags for description, page titles, good overall site theme, well put together on site seo, unique context on page. Incoming links yadda yadda yadda ... PR is pretty to see but it is not what is going to get you ranked well in serps.
Relax.... and be patient. Most likely, it will be back within a week or so. That is, as long as you have not been trying to cheat your way to the top. I believe that many of the calculations that G does on a site are circular. So, to arrive at a score, many factors are reset to zero and then calculations begin. These calculations are performed by different programs over the course of days, as the program gets around to it. During this time, your site have many factors reset to zero simply does not rank. Once all factors are recalculated, your site is assigned a document score and it begins to rank once again. /*tom*/
This is the 4rd complain I read today about web position change. But the reasonable answer I heard is just here from longcall911. I am trying to remember, it was happen some time to my sites, but they back.. As longcall911 said: relax..
Game-Set-Match. One thing I've learned over the last couple of months is that PR under 5 pretty much means nothing. I had my biggest jumps in SERP's when I changed my anchor texts to match the key words I was looking to rank well for. That's always where I got the biggest jump in the SERP's. On page SEO is great but doesn't guarantee anything. To me it's all about good relevant links with proper anchor text....
