marketing can get you traffic but visitors wont come back for more unless they find valuable and retainer content on your site. Also, sites that have done very less marketing, like neatorama.com betterexplained.com site are surviving because of good content that is not found elsewhere. Driving usage and adoption is the key, after that, it is the quality of the content that keeps readers going. If lifehacker didnt have good enough content, wouldnt it have been dead long ago?
Whats the point of marketing if you drive a bunch of people to your site to sell something and you content sucks. Same goes for backlinks. Who cares if you rank high if your visitors are not converting. You will only sell if your content is king! A crappy sales pitch will take all that work of marketing and throw it out the window. In a perfect world though you need everything. You cant just have any of the above, you should try to have them all.
Nobody says to have content that sucks and do marketing. What i'm saying here, if you have the best content against someone that has good content but not the best but is good in marketing. Surely, the one with good content but not best will win. That explains for people that are the best in their field but don't have the best skills. No one said to go ONLY for marketing and no content. Of course, also have effort on your content BUT give MORE effort on marketing.
i think marketing is one aspect and content is other one... Through marketing u can direct traffic but content is essential.
I know blogs or sites that havent done any marketing at all, even I talked to owners and they dont have any clue about doing marketing on internet but they have thousands of visits a day (100k, 4 years site about architecture) as an online newspaper...it's all about unique and new content
My priority, content comes first then marketing, what is the use of marketing if your content is not good, your bounce rate will increase and thereby decreasing CPM and CTR, so no money in the end, good content>good marketing>good SERP ranking> good money
You need both to rank well. Content alone will not work and marketing alone will not work. Choosing one over the other won't change much. In other words its like king and queen. You can decided which is what, but in my own opinion marketing is king. However it also takes more time.
I agree, although I see a lot of garbage results on the first few pages of Google searches (more than ever) and I'm stating to lose my confidence in Google...especially sites that inject your search query into a page title (Torrent sites are notorious for this), as well as comparison shopping sites that have no results...the backlink issue is just another thing that is giving crap sites rankings that they don't deserve.
Did i say anything about marketing a blank page? Hope you read well what's posted. Try to read what was written in the first post.
Well, you have a good point. First of all, content is needed before making any markets in the industry.
Neither is King. One without the other is pretty useless. Whats the point in having content that no one reads? Whats the point in marketing content that nobody wants to read? The King is the person who can combine the two
In my opinion, if you want to do a business successful, you should work hard, make sure the content is good, you know if someone log in your site and find the site is not well,he will never go there again. And if your site is useful for us, when we log in it ,we would bookmark it, even your site will not appeared at the top of search engine, we also could go to.
By having good content only we can get more visitors. If having good content only we can market the products or site easily. So content is the king in seo.
On the other hand, you have a great point of view. The person who use the combination of these 2 important things is the King/.
Content is the king in SEO. Its essential to keep your site as fresh and unique. Content will help our site to keep as search-engine friendly and user-friendly..
