Is buying 100s of domains an redirecting them to your website against Google's Terms of Service? I've seen some websites who rank #1 for very competitive keywords bought 100s of domains containing competitive keywords and then redirect them to their website. Shouldn't they be banned by search engines because they're not providing any useful content on those domains, just spamming the Web and tricking the system.
Can you do this? Yes depending on your host. Yes tons of websites do this becuase its a really cheap and easy thing to do. Does this work for SERPs, well that really depends on your competition and how they are link. There are alot of ways to rank #1 over your compeitors without having and links to you site (which I wont discuss on this site). Should they be banned? Possibly, I guess its your view point about it. For me it doesnt matter much since there are so many others ways of out ranking. You really shouldn't even worry about this unless you are into some short term business. As far as google is concerned this is frowned upon big time. More can be read here straight from google.
The problem is, these sites that I'm talking about have done this for years and have not been suspended by Google. They keep showing in the top SERPs and nobody can really catch up to them since they have a large network of domains they own which they use to direct traffic to their main website. I'm doing all that I can to improve my ranking, and I'm not using any blackhat methods. What I find is unfair is that these websites parade in the top spots by using blackhat methods and Google pretends that everything is cool since these same sites spend anywhere from $200 to $1000 on AdWords a day so you can see why Google still supports their actions.
It's just frowned upon. Even if google did do it. People would just get a new domain and start all over. And yes there are loops holes that allow you to do this even if google took the time to go through it that will still give lead way to do it. 301 redirects are a proven point to it. 100 domains with 301's would still do it. Remener that at google only about 1% of the websites are looked at by a person the others are just by what a spider tells them. If the spider doesn't catch it then it passes TOS for the most part. You can complain to Google about it but again its 100 domains and domains can change very easily.
That's really a bold imagination. But if your hosting provider allows,it's feasible. It means that you can also have a try if you like. But I don't advocate this activity, there are still many other ways for you to increase your flows such as adsã€optimizationã€links and etc.Why not try those?
Now tell me why cant you do this? You get 100 premium domain names that get quality type in traffic for your field and you should not redirect them to your site?? Why not? You have the same right to buy those premium domains and redirect them to your site as your competition.. This is no black hat method just pure common sense.. Eliminate your competition and build up yourself.. Could it get any better?
Yes, but companies like Google do not like this because you can build your SERP rankings this way. If you bought 100 domains containing your keyword and redirected them to only one website, then posting those domains in forums and directories can increase your website's ranking for those keywords. Also, if you buy domains and have no unique content on them and link to your main website from those domains, your site can get blacklisted by Google and removed from their index.
I think its ok, what sort of redirecting you ware talking? 300 or 200? Or script redirection? I prefer iFramed script redirection. Lots benefits.
It sounds like a moderately expensive way to get traffic to me. Unless the domains are worth holding onto because of their intrinsic value, at least that's the way I'd see it.
I agree.. Unless the website is making ton of money for these people to afford the expense of having hundreds of domains that are pointing to the site and are converting into some sort of sale which at the end is greater than the cost of keeping all of those domains to point to the site.
Calm down, posting your link in directories and sigs on forums does not increase your rankings in the SERPs - no matter if it is 5 or 5.000.000! You got it all wrong - these techniques don't work since ages. If those sites you are talking about rank well (if you wish I can show you how, but it won't be cheap ; no review copies available), they do so for reasons beyond your knowledge, but not for redirecting lots of domains to the one that appears in the SERPs! And mostly no blackhat method is invoved!!
That's OK. I can go to GoogleCasino, oops Google AdWords, and spend that money there which will at least bring me visitors. Spending money on useless e-books and empty promises is not my thing.
