I have been inspired by one of our fellow DPer's to talk about China Killing Dogs..... Please read my blog post: http://petcareeducation.com/dog/china-deems-necessary-to-slaughter-dogs/
"Shi Ruihua, head of the livestock department in Hanzhong, said that beating the dogs to death was found to be the “most economical†option for dealing with the rabies problem" - my gosh! so unreasonable! rrrggghhhhhhh..
It`s probably not a good idea to kill them, but I got to say that in my country people in charge don`t do much about them and very often in some area of cities people are scared to go because of too much free dogs. And very often I see on news accidents that involves this kind of dogs. I think this is not good also. Something has to be done.
That was an excellent article, GreenDog. I've read that China is telling citizens that they need to kill their own dog if it's over one foot high, or on the dangerous breed list. If they don't, the government will beat their dog to death with a stick, and then charge the owner a fine. It's heartbreaking.
It's kinda sad how treat the dogs. Dogs are very loyal to their master and they would fight for them till death even though their master would just treat them like rubbish...
I guess it is a dog's life in China. Actually it also depends on what type of dogs you are, http://www.nydailynews.com/money/20..._dog_woman_pays_600k_for_tibetan_mastiff.html seems to be having some great treatment.
Some people kill dogs for food. Sometimes, it is because of the rabies. the rabies is out of control.
I was been to China before and very seldom see dogs. And i ask some of the worker there and they told me that if someone see dog hang around the street, and probably they will catch it either to sell or cook.
Its high time that something needs to be done for dogs. No one has the right to kill any other species like this. China must adopt some other ways to tackle this problem rather killing them.
This is slightly off the subject, but they are also one of the leading countries in the fur industry as well. China has been skinning dogs, sometimes alive (according to HSUS and PETA), in the dog fur trade for years. America and Australia made selling dog fur illegal early this decade, and finally european countries just made it illegal at the beginning of this year. Even though it's been illegal, the China fur trade has been importing fur that in some incidents, have been proven by DNA tests to be domestic dog. The first time I learned about this, I could hardly sleep, it literally gave me nightmares. I look at my sweet dog, think of how loving and faithful, and wonder how could anyone do this? How can you take a dog and eat it, torture it, or beat it to death with a stick?
Mad dogs are worse than mad caws. If you or your friends are biten by a mad dog, you may not say so. If those mad and crazy dogs are out of control, citizens' life would be in dangerous situation. Which is more important, a dog's life or that of a person?
The argument may sound good but being a living creature, they (dogs) deserve humane treatment, even if they are doomed to death. This is more so in most of the developing countries where the roads are infested with street dogs (with none to care them) and some of them may be rabid, biting the passers by. Of course, human lives are more valuable than that of the dogs but how a resource crunched state government will take care of the stray dogs when its people live in shambles?
I think let China go one step at a time, first stop killing humans beings then we can go further down the rows to the dogs.
I have Cats and Dogs, which I love. It's sad to see people killing animals without any regards to their feelings.
I saw a trent rezner video he did for peta. Really disturbed me. I almost cried because I love dogs so much, and they are such loving animals. How can we stop this when the mega super power that is China has no laws to protect these dogs? :'(
Instead of killing them, the Govt. can perform sterilization to curtail the further growth of the population. Any how, killing the voiceless creature will definitely a sin to anyone who does it...
Why is a dog any different from a cow, a pig or a spider? They are trying to control an issue and yes their methods are different to what some countries would use but that's because, guess what, it's a different country.
