I'll bet that many of you surf these forums every night looking for the magic spell that will suddenly bring traffic to your site. I'd also bet that you see the same advice over and over, i.e. submit articles, add your sites to directories, create backlinks, etc. Yet, you are still looking for the magic pixie dust. I can assure you that no such dust exists and you should spend a tenth of the time you waste searching for magic on writing articles and submitting them to the various sites. Don't worry, I was once just like you, but then I woke up one day and decided that I was going to stop looking for better answers and use the advice that I've read about. My life and my bank account changed very quickly.
So, what is the advice you've read about? Article marketing, backlinks, and SEO are all passive ways of advertising btw, if you're disenchanted with them, just give 'em time - results will show in 4 - 6 months. If you want instant traffic, do spread your link on social bookmarking/networking sites (i.e. Digg, Reddit; Myspace, Facebook), video and how-to sites (Youtube and Yahoo! Answers), or buy PPC ads (at Google).
He's saying people come here all the time and see the same advice but keep looking instead of implementing the advice. All the advice given here takes work to implement and people don't do it, the choose to instead look for the magical instant Google domination advice and it doesn't exist. You can read about article marketing all you want but it won't do you any good until you actually write articles. You can read about backlinking all you want but it won't do you any good until you start actually doing it. That is the inherent problem with forums. While they are a great resource and are many times the best place to get educated about certain topics, they are also addictive and people with surf forums all day and then go to bed feeling like they got some work done. Six months down the road they're doing the same thing and realize that they are not making any money even though they put so much "work" into it. Stop looking for a magic solution and take action. If you're not getting the results you want it's because you're not taking the necessary action. Yes you need to learn, but there comes a point where "learning" is just an excuse for inaction and laziness.
Spot on the mark, very true. TIP, cancel all of your forum subscriptions and only look at forums in designated "free time" by clicking on the "New Posts" link. Forums are a leisure pursuit for your leisure time, not work. What the heck am I doing here then?!!!!!!
very good point you have there. I agree, don't be lazy and spend your time looking for a quick way because there's none that exists. Start working and have a lot of patience because getting a high rank in search engines do take a lot of time especially if you are targeting a very competitive keyword. If you want quick results then try targeting less competitive keyword.
I just found another example of somebody preaching about this magic dust... The sad part is that some people will believe this fairy tail and waste months trying to figure it out.
I know what you mean. So many people browse these (and other) forums all day asking the same exact questions month by month, only to continue asking them over and over. I've only done my research for the last 2 months or so, but I'm well of now, I know what I have to do, and I do it. This really isn't as complicated of an industry as people make it out to be.
Everyone is looking for shortcuts to the $$$... First rule of internet marketing / traffic generation or whatever else you want to get done is believe you can do it and actually do something more than just wish for it. Most people believe or dis-believe in the law of attraction where in if you believe you can make lots of money on the internet you will. They first think it will work but when the money never comes well then it must be all crap. Simple point here just believing it wont bring it, you need to place you "send me money button" out there and build many roads to it, this is in fact called work and if you belive that doing the real building work will bring the money you desire than it will, it really will! So the time to stop researching reading and learning is N O W and the time to begin applying all that you have learned through the training phase of your work is also N O W! Oh btw the second step is to get rid of your TV So wake up and know that the traffic, money, SEO and mortgage fairies all do not exist and NO ONE if going to sell you a $29.00 e-book that has all the answers to easy money, however the book it's self might be making easy money for the author and even generating traffic to other products and sites and why is it doing this, did he add magic dust to the e-book? NO He did the work to put things in motion. Anyone else want the soapbox now? I am done ranting.
Why do you care so much about other people, if you OK But i dont think, people only asking and doing "s**t" after 1.New people coming here to ask questions. 2.Some people (like me for example) like to take "break time", to drink cup of coffee and to read Forum (not only work, work, work all day long ), to help somebody or to find something new for yourself. 3.Some of them who making money already (like you ) and ....just spending some time here. 4.Who likes Forums so much and all others. BUT i dont see nothing wrong with it. Do you? Cant you sleep cos of that? Jocking!
True, quality SEO takes quite a bit of time. 4-6 months is usually what I tell people. Black hat tactics are stupid IMHO, since it just isn't really worth the risk. Why risk losing ranking, and reputation among your peers for a few links?
Totally agree with the OP. There really isn't too much to SEO apart from a few simple rules to follow. The rest is just down to hard work/ spending time wisely as with any other industry. After a couple of months browsing through webmaster forums you soon learn that everything just gets repeated time after time in terms of SEO.
WOW, what a way to come into a forum, your absolutely right as well and there's something I wanted to add to that... DO NOT keep jumping from idea to idea (I did this) master one thing/method and you'll get there in the end. Chances are the first time you try something it wont work, DONT GIVE UP, find out whats going wrong and fix it.
Master the basics, and keep at it - it's as simple as that. There are tons of websites and forums with great information on how to rank a site, the "white hat" way. I would avoid black hat only because it is not worth it, but also the danger that your client - or your own website - may be penalized in the process.
Ohhh it can't be true. You can't just get rich quick? Ahh, what the heck? And you are right- Stop Reading and do.... The learning is in the doing.
