    It could of done it remained free* to Adwords users. Now I think its unlikely.

    *Until recently you could process 10x your adwords spend free

    I use both paypal and google chcekout. I prefer paypal but if a person is not comfortable with paypal, I have them use google because everyone has heard of google.

    I agree. Google is not the same than, nor does it offer the same services as Paypal.

    Very few companies, which include Google, will dare to go the same route as Paypal at this stage.

    I thought it was only for accepting credit card payments, rather than acting like a bank account or escrow like paypal?

    that's also from myth.
    i am from not paypal friendly country but has NEVER got problems with them. just play by the rules and you won't get punished.

    No they are not myths, paypal DOES limit accounts and hold funds and etc. but it is the best and safest option for buyer (not sellers)
