    Hello everyone,

SEO is one of the things any one going into a marketing process for a website HAVE to take seriously for the following reasons:
    - Ranking in search engine will bring FREE traffic.
    - SEO not only brings free traffic but also high quality one. As you optimise for keywords that are relevant to your website.
    - People coming from a search engine are more interested than the ones coming after a click on a banner. Why? Because they got to you after a SEARCH, means they are looking for you at that exact time!

Now, what is the TOP thing that will ensure your SEO efforts make sens??
    Answer: Content!!

The more you have content, the more the volume of your site is (this is the real value of a website for any search engine).
The more your content is well written (from an SEO perspective - keyword rich content), the more you will rank for the terms you want!

So, Content is KING for the following reasons:
    - It's what makes your SEO work which will lead to great free and quality marketing.
    - It's what makes your traffic stay!!! People come back to valuable sites, and what makes a site valuable is content!!!

    Kind regards

I would say, what's with your great content without marketing. You'll be a nobody without marketing. That's why people that don't have the best skills, still get to be the best because they know how to market themselves.

Again, i'm not saying that marketing alone will do it. You should also have a good content.

And yet the marketing will get people to the site. The content (or lack thereof) will determine what they do afterword. Will they convert? Or will they run for the hills? Marketing can't determine that. Only content can.

In many ways it's a lot like a certain brand of pizza back in the day that was being introduced to the market. There was a HUGE marketing and advertising campaign about 3 months before the product hit the market, yet the company went out of business despite RECORD SALES in the first week. Why? Because the pizza tasted worse than recycled corrugated cardboard for crying out loud!!!

Look, marketing is great - but it's not going to go anywhere if there isn't great content that people will find useful. Give the people what they want, and the marketing will literally take care of itself.

    For a thought...

I agree that content is not the king.

I believe it's something greater. It is the foundation of all that there is.

You cannot market without a content. You have nothing to link to without a content. Keywords are but plain words/phrases, content gives their meaning. It is content that surfers search for, with the use of keywords of course to make searching easier. And all the marketing stuff are of assistance that will lead traffic to the content.

No matter how good your links are and how many traffic you get, it is the content which what makes conversion.

And yes, content is not king, it is the king of kings.

Just to add... Even kings don't succeed without its royal marketing family. lol

    Hi zealot777,

What you mean is clear from the beginning.

The question was whether content is King. And yes its!
I would answer the same you did :) Content is King but this dosn't mean you will stick to it.
Sure you need a lot of other marketing tactics.

And by the way, Content writing, optimising, and submitting is part of Marketing. It's even called today "Article Marketing" so I think the poll don't make any sense.

From my opinion, to avoid any confusion:
Internet Marketing is comprised of sooo many processes and tactics. One of them is related to content.
Content is King not because its enough and can alone do the job but because its a key element and also an affordable element.

    Kind regards

This is getting nowhere, its like calling the wheel the king of the car simply because the car will not go anywhere without it.

I guess some people will stick to whatever they believed in

    :)
    No that's not my point.
As I already explained, it's not about comparing Marketing to Content.
Again, the question is "Is content King?"
And again, Content development is a form of Marketing!

Nodoubt that content is really important. But there is no rule that you need to depend purely on content. Make some sensible content without spamming and start marketing. Marketing drives good results.

    Hello,

The expression "Content is King" is used by Internet marketers and web experts to describe the fact that Content is the most valuable element of you WEBSITE and not marketing.

You need SEO, you need advertising, you need link building, you need them all!!

Comparing Content and Marketing is link comparing a car and a wheel... It doesn't stand up!
Developing good content is a part of your marketing. Something I highly recommend for many reasons I already stated in a previous reply. But it's not all your marketing.

And what the poster of this thread should have used as term is "advertising" and not "Marketing"... Marketing is a very large concept evolving all this!!

    Kind regards
