Is it exclusively Gujarati or a Hindu thing similar to Diwali?

Gujarati is not different from Hindus. Gujarati people are Hindus.

Navaratari is more like a fun festival than anything else.

Read more over here - Navaratri: Nine Divine Nights

Two forms of traditional Gujarati dances - the garba (moving in a circle and gracefully clapping the hands) and the dandiya ("dandi" means stick and Dandiya is basically played with two sticks in Hand)

Both the dances are graceful and elegant and beautiful.

There are many people from the United States and Australia and the UK that come down to some famous Navaratari functions here in Mumbai to dance and enjoy the dance.

These days the wannabes have westernized the dance terribly. But Authentic Garba and Dandiya is still prevalent.

    Checkout some videos

    http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=CE9842E7A46DE470&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&v=gkVuKtZyprA

P.S - Did you know ... the sale of condoms and the number of abortions increases heavily during Navratri?

If you ever plan to come down to India - hit me up. Be my guest - I'll take you to the famous Sankalp Dandiya in Mumbai :)

Are you worried about the unsafe practices during Navratri? Please build some awareness amongst your friends, start with sending some rubber to your friends from sendsomerubber.com.
