    Is it illegal to copy articles/news from a site provided i put a link back or source: from site abc.com ?

    What if i edit the words use in the article / news ?

    Plz advice !

    Like the previous writer said, a link back is necessary as a source credit. However, some news sources will still cite you, such as AP.

    Merely linking back to the source does not allow you to rip articles off.

    Unless and until you have express permission of the source, you shouldn't be copying articles.

    in paper base, you should mention the origin source (and the author), in internet the most important is linkback. Not only to mention the source, but also to give it a credit for SEO

    No, that is not true. Copying an article without permission is copyright infringement, even if you give a link back to the source.

    You are allowed to take the facts in the article and use those facts to completely rewrite it in your own words.

    So are we, but even with news sites you cannot legally copy articles. You can only use the information to rewrite the stories, and then post a source code somewhere within the article.

    You should also mention where the source came from if you plan on using any direction quotations. For example:
