How long for Google to detect a theme change?

I'm planning to change my blog's theme to the Thesis theme as some bloggers claim that it gives them more search engine visitors.

I'm planning to put this into a test by buying the theme (it has a 30 day money back guarantee) , switch to it, and wait to see if I do get more search engine visitors because of it.

How long do you think for Google to notice a theme/structure change and adjust the SERP, etc?

It depends on how often Google indexes your site. For one of my sites that is updated infrequently it takes up to 2 weeks for Google to notice a change in page title for example.

I completely agrees with what other members have replied that it depends upon how often Google crawl or index your site.

But there are few things that you can do to invite Google to crawl or index your site as soon as possible by adopting following means.

1.Submit your home page to Google

2.Sign up to webmaster tools and submit your xml sitemap.

3.Contribute few fresh and orignal article to ezine article with sitelink back to your own blog . This is the most fastest way to invite Google so far i have experienced,

4.Sign up related forums and contribute as active member so that it can attract visitors to your blog. The over activity on your blog by visitors also attract Google to visit and index your blog soon.

There are many more ways to attract Google to index your own site quickly. Once Google come back again on your site, your new theme will automatically get indexed.

I agree with the above reply. You can make Google know about your changes at that very moment by bookmarking them on popular sites, submitting site maps to major search engines.

A theme influencing your search engine rankings? There is not a great deal that a mere theme can do I'm afraid. I'm not sold with the idea, but I'd like to know your experience with it all the same.

Maybe the theme is just that so much more SEO friendly? I don't think you'll see any major improvements within 30 days though unless you do parallel promotion of your site

My site is updated every few hours but theme change or full html change is noticed in 2-3 days.

I have seen sites with PR5 and above not caching for weeks. I think they are more likely to cache sites faster with active new content.

Well my blog is frequently updated (1-2 times a day) and I notice new posts get indexed very quickly by Google (1-2 days after I published a post, I can see some hits from search engines through Google Analytics).

That's why I'm skeptical too but lots of bloggers give testimonials and stats about an increase since they move to the Thesis theme (the codes are clean for google bots - not sure if it has any effect)

Thanks for the feedback. I guess it's pretty safe to try the theme and wait for a week or so as I'm confident Google will notice the change so I can start analyzing some statistics

I have a fresh blog ! Not even a month old. All i have is the webmasters account at google and whenever i publish a post, google comes knocking at my blog(guess WP is pinging weblogs). when i hit site: with the post's title, the post's indexed page it shows up in google. One such post showed 54 mins ago. But the cache wasn't present, it was just added to the index and it takes sometime to cache i guess.

it depends on the time it takes to index a site. every site has different indexing time. In order to increase the indexing frequency you could put your links in blog submission directories and update your ping list with top ping service.
