Problems with subscribed threads?

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by MattUK, Aug 11, 2006.

I've had a load of old threads pop up in my userCP New subscribed threads section, the last post on most of these is well over two weeks old.

Is there some kind of problem with these?

I faced the same problem. I had posts upto Aug 1 showing up in my CP.

I had about 70 old threads showing up, I opened and losed all of them but was left with about ten that wouldn't go away. I unsubscribed and seem to be back to normal now.

Better open them in bulk, in new tabs than to unsubscribe.

This could be the most likely reason. :D

I have threads from early July in my User CP. :D :D :D

That's what I did, it seems to have worked. I guess it was some kind of DB error. At first I thought someone had spammed a bunch of old threads

I'm not seeing any that shouldn't be there for me (you sure people didn't reply to them to make them show up)?

Oh wait a minute... I bet I know what it is. I just changed the setting in vBulletin for the number of days to track what you've read/not read before it assumes you read it anyway.

I just upped the days from 10 to 20, so these threads showing up are probably the ones that had their last response 11-20 days ago... (sorry)

No worries, there doesn't seem to be any further problems since I opened all the new (old) threads

Yeah, because if it was started 10-20 days ago, before it assumed you already read them (so it didn't track if you read individual posts/threads older than 10 days). Now it's tracking for the last 20 days, but there was no data for days 11-20 at this point, so it just thinks you haven't read them.

Pays to read first.... Ok, this explains the issue for me. I thought someone was on a "revive old threads bomb" mission again. Hate when that happens.

I wonder how many of these threads will now be revived as a result? Yikes....
