If you run a forum and your are constantly spammed by forum spammers. Send me a message. P.S. I am not selling anything. Thank you.
No idea what you are talking about. By the way, installed reCAPTCHA still getting spams but not too many.
If you are on Vbulletin,IPB,PHPBB you might getting huge amount of spam! but MYBB is much better and didnt got auto spam bot in last 3 months!
It used to be you knew you had arrived when your community started getting spammed. Now it's almost impossible not to be. I have inactive blogs that I haven't touched for weeks still getting spam comments that don't ever see the light of day because I don't approve them.
The spam softwares normally post in 1 section only find out which that is and make a post count limit of minimum 2-3 post to allow threads in there
Good forum software already supports reCAPTCHA, phpBB3 will include this in version 3.0.6 . Automated spam is fairly easy to stop with the likes of reCAPTHA and numeric puzzles on the registration page. A friend of mine actually recently developed an AJAX based MOD for phpBB 3.0.6 that requires users to drag and drop list items corresponding columns - configurable in the Admin panel. The real problems facing forum owners are trolls and multiple accounters. You can ban usernames, Emails and IP addresses all day long but at the end of the day there are countless proxies and other methods to circumvent forum bans.
Change the captcha stuffs often. No matter what you do you really cant avoid spammers. There is a vb hack you can install, that would help you somewhat restricting users from banned ip address. If you see a user is real spammer, don't be kind; ban them. That will save your time as well as your users would appreciate the clean spam free nature of the forum.
Spammers these days hire some people to spam! They used to register and spam on the forums! They're not bots but humans .. so Captcha will not work with them! Where is the OP? Is he avail or what? No replies from him so far!
Spamming happens time to time. Like someone make an account and post bunch of Adult links. I simply delete the account and move on. I think because of email activation at least spam bots are not coming.
It also depends on if your forum is public or private. I had the same problem when my forums were public. Since I changed most the boards to private I have noticed that it has greatly cutdown on spam. Also CAPTCHA is your friend
