    Hi Pete/everyone,

I had my first try with onlywire over the weekend.

I know this might sound stupid but when you sign up for it, onlywire asks you to enter usernames and passwords to a vast amount of social media sites for the bookmarks.

I was wondering if you have to own an account with every single site on this list to maximize the bookmarking? And do you use your very own private accounts or your pen name ones? Some IM methods suggest you use new pen names/accounts for every single campaign you'll be starting. I'm just getting a bit confused here...

    Cheers,
    Chris.

I think a general name that you won't be using for any of your campaigns should be alright I guess, atleast that's how i do it, if you are doing it on a large scale promoting several campaigns simultaneously creating dozens of accounts for each campaign would get a bit crazy.

I am new to squidoo, I have a few questions, i noticed links are nofollow, googling around they claim it is dofollow and/or it depends on how your lens is, it would be great if someone could point me in the right direction here, a nofollow link would barely carry any rank.

    thanks in advance.

Wow, very nice, Im bookmarking this thread and following your progress.

Ive only been into affiliate marketing for a year, so I still feel pretty noob. I've only made about $3k in that year, so I must say I'm not too impressed with myself. Hearing all these massive numbers and profits, its kinda discouraging that I'm not making more.

Thanks for the motivation to start writing more!
    Cheers

You have to create the accounts yourself. Onlywire can speed up the submissions as many are posted automatically but you have to create the account first, but the good thing is you only need to create an account once and that's it. ;)

@everyone Squidoo is going through major changes at the moment. As Luq says if you manage to get your lens featured then it does change from no follow to do follow. I think they are going along the lines of hubpages. they are doing a very similar thing there as well.

It is getting harder and harder for affiliate marketers to get there links out there without incurring some sort of penalty from some source whether it be google, squidoo, hubpages or anyone. I think it is time to start thinking outside the box and start down another line of marketing that hasn't been exploited yet.

There are plenty of ways that you can get your links out. At the end of the day it is all about the traffic and the sales.

    Thanks

    Pete

It is getting much harder to promote affiliate products and services.

Places that consider affiliate marketing to be spam:

    -Facebook
    -Myspace
    -Squidoo
    -Hubpages
-Wordpress.com (yes even they are cracking down a bit on certain niches)
    -Chat rooms
-Digg and related social bookmarking site are declining submissions from most article directories
    -Forums

Looks like we need to find fresh ideas in the right place and at the right time.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

I am willing to be it's just a matter of time before article directories begin blocking specific niches and perhaps anything affiliate related.

I think that could be a bit down the line. I cannot see article directories banning affiliates I can see most of them going no follow. I think it would be suicidal if they banned affiliates

Well done Pete. I have just caught up with you're thread and find it very inspiring. Although I am not a newbie I still take on board everything you have said and done. You're one of the few that take action, I can guarantee out of the hundreds and thousands that read this thread only 5% will actually take enough action to succeed.

Couple of questions because I may of flicked a couple of pages in between hehe.

How many articles are you submitting per week per product to you're main article directory?

Also is this correct for you're process.

Main Article Directory (link to landing page & redirect)
Send Article to several other Directories (link to main AD and landing page)
Squidoo page with 5 articles (link to AD and landing page)
Hub Page with 5 articles (link to AD and landing page)
    Bookmark ALL articles

then thats it? Add other articles and repeat process?

Great thread! Thank -you so much for the detailed answers!

Questions: 1.You talk about how you talk about the product in your articles, do you stick to a lot of product type keywords or just good long tail keywords?

    2. Is your Landing page written like a review of the product or how have you set that up?

    3. Are You still doing redirect? If not do you find the sales increased dramatically when you switched to a landing page?

    Pete,

I spent about 3 hours reading this entire thread the other day but there's one thing I was thinking of today that I can't remember whether you covered.

Are you posting your articles to multiple directories? I remember you saying something about Buzzle and other directories but can't find the page.

If you are posting them to other directories, are you using an article submitter or submitting them manually?

Thanks for your time Pete and apologies if you've covered this already. Keep up the great work.

No one has mentioned in this whole discussion about the bad sides of promoting affiliate programs through article marketing solely. As we all know time is money and all those articles take ages to write not speaking about outsourcing them. (I'm not saying article marketing should not be a marketing strategy in your plan)

Let me get back to my point. If you're solely depending on articles then it may not be profitable at all. Articles cost around $5 each, a lading page is worth $100 think about what you're left with after paying all the taxes..

Not to mention that some of the traffic that you get on your articles might click on the adsense ads and then what you're doing is wasting valuable traffic to ezinearticles.com, and they're the ones benefiting. To maximize profits you need to take affiliate marketing from all angles and implement all possible strategies.

@precious007 This is the whole point! Article marketing is just one source of what I am doing. It would be suicide just to depend on one source of advertising because if that fails then your income totally dries up. The way to look at article marketing is that it is one cog in the wheel. You should never rely on just one source of traffic. As I have said throughout this thread article marketing is a big part of the plan but it is just a part.

@altug When I first started I was doing all this manually. I tried a few of the article submitter software but none of them seemed to fit what I needed to work. Now I have something different that works exactly the way I need it to. It automates everything for me. As they say if you can't find what you need make it yourself ;)

    Thanks

    Pete
