Today I saw a report on Arab News regarding a ban on Arab channels in India. A business woman from Saudi Arabia complained about the ban of Arab channels in Mumbai Oberoi . On furthur investigation, Arab News claims that there is a country-wide ban on Arab media in India. According to Arab News, the Indian Govt is pressurised by Israel to hide the atrocities against Palestine, Lebanon etc. Indian Govt enforced ban on blogs. Now this. Are we facing another 'Emergency"? But nothing can stop the news and views. The Govt is definitely defacing India's independent foreign policy!!!

Certainly freedom of speech should be honored everywhere.
That includes the Arab countries as well.
Many arab citizens have never read the Quran cover to cover. Also they should be given a chance to read the new testament and chose a religion freely.

Everyone remembers the Afghani Christian who was about to be killed for converting to Christianity, because the Quran says so.

Islam with Muhammad as the prophet of God should be carefully examined by every country in the world before letting it in.

Pakistani muslims still practice gang rape as a punishment. Claiming that the punishment is by the Quran.

Pakistani government prosecutes those believers only if pressured by the international community.

In my view Arab media means most of the time Islamic media (I really want to be wrong about it).
I certainly don't want Islamic media in US and any other country in the world. Based on the deeds and the teachings of the prophet Muhammad and the results of it on the masses around the world. Sorry muslims, before jumping on me read the new testament and see the life and teaching of another prophet. Reading it may be the best time you spent in your life.

    Best of luck

Hi, update on the first post:

Now I came to know that, there is no such ban on Arab Media or to any other media in India. If any channel is not getting aired in India it is because of
    • The Informaton & Broadcasting Ministry has ordered to all forieng medias to register with them in order to continue telecasting here in india.
    • all foreing channels were given 6 months time to do so.
    • 65 channels including BBC & CNN abide by the order and registered with the Information & Broadcasting Department of India.
    • The blocked channels are those who are yet to be get registered.
    • The said arab channels are in the list of Unregistered.
    • As soon as they register they can continue their telecast in India
............. and nothing to do with Isreal or USA' s instruction to india.. ...

I dont know the exact figure.. i think it is very low. I am saying it is very low because the non-availability came to the media attention when a Businessman from Soudi Arabia complained about the matter to his hoterl manager.

So, i assume that there is very low viewership here for Arab Medias.

Sorry man, you asked for it. Let's see what you as a muslim will say about all this.

    Pakistan: Bride gang-raped after wedding
    http://www.jihadwatch.org/dhimmiwatch/archives/006443.php

    April 17, 2006
Pakistan: Muslim Child Bride For Sale
We have tried to make our readers aware of how in Pakistan, Islamic jirgas or panchayats (village courts), have condoned abuses of the rights of girls and women, Such abuses include the ordering of gang-rape against women such as Mukhtar Mai, because of a "crime" committed by her brother.

    http://www.westernresistance.com/blog/archives/001952.html

Pakistan: Women facing slavery, discrimination and exploitation — Socialists fight women’s oppression worldwide
................But when it comes to the home front, those who are complaining about being oppressed by the West, turn out to be oppressors themselves in relation to women and children. Islamic fundamentalists and the religious right are responsible for the stark and horrific conditions faced by women in most of Muslim societies. They help the ruling classes to suppress women. They also portray the struggle for women’s rights as a western conspiracy against the “great traditions” and “family values” of these religious parties.
    .................

...............Still in the 21st century, in many areas in Pakistan, women are not allowed to go to school. In many areas of Baluchistan, Sindh, North West Frontier Province, southern Punjab, it is impossible to see a woman in the markets or on the streets. The majority of Pakistani women are facing the conditions of the dark ages with no social, political and economic rights.

For them, domestic violence, sexual harassment, rape, gang rape, injustice, forced marriages, honour killings and brutality are the realities of every day life. Discrimination against them is very visible in every field of life. 73% of women in the countryside labour in the rural economy, but no official report ever mentions their contribution. Women workers are cited as 23% of the total work force, but rural agriculture women workers are not included in that figure. In the textile sector women workers are 35% of the total work force. Nearly 3 million women are working as domestic servants and get anything between 500 to 2,000 rupees (£5 to £20) per month. These workers have no fixed working hours and time off in the week. Women workers in the private sector work 12 to 16 hours a day without any break. Compared with male workers, female workers get 40% less in wages. ............

    Islamic Fundamentalism and Women Rights
Islamic fundamentalists and the religious right consider the struggle for women’s rights as a western conspiracy.
Vani is a custom in the semi-tribal districts of Punjab and North West Frontier Province under which girls are given in marriage to men of rival clans or tribes as a trade-off in deals to settle cases of murder and other blood feuds. (Sisters and daughters of accused murderers are given to affected families to release their brothers and fathers.)

The girls are then treated as slaves in the rival clan. Forced marriages are rife and Karo Kari is widely practiced. This is the custom of husbands or other male family members killing married or unmarried female members on allegations of illicit relations. (Sometimes they kill both people involved.)

Love marriage (i.e. without parental consent) is still a sin and a crime according to the religious elite.

Some spiritualy advanced people consider any marriage without LOVE as Sin!

A Muslim rape epidemic in sweeping over Europe
and over many other nations host to immigrants from the Islamic world. The direct connection between the rapes and Islam is irrefutable, as Muslims are significantly overrepresented among convicted rapists and rape suspects. The Muslim perpetrators themselves boast that their crime is justified since their victims were, among other things, not properly veiled.

    Small mercy for Pakistan's women

    Hudood Ordinance
A former military ruler, Mohammad Zia-ul-Haq, introduced the Hudood Ordinance in 1979 in a move to Islamise the legal system.
    ...............

Under the ordinance, a man and woman found guilty of having sex outside of marriage could be sentenced to death by stoning or 100 lashes. Drinking is punishable by 80 lashes and theft with amputation of the right hand. Women could not - until the amendment - be let out on bail.

The law makes prosecution in rape cases virtually impossible as a rape victim must produce four pious, male Muslim witnesses in court to prove the charge. If the woman fails to provide proof, she faces the charge of adultery and imprisonment - a very real possibility for Hasina and Sumera.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - A Pakistani gang rape victim, whose case has been highlighted by international media, has been removed from a list of people barred from traveling abroad, the government said on Wednesday.

Mukhtaran Mai, who was gang raped on the orders of a traditional village council in 2002, had demanded that the government lift restrictions on her movements.

I got tired of giving you proofs. It's not pleasant for me to deal with it.

I hope you didn't read their version of the Quran.

    huh?? What gives??

Dictatorship is the last thing that could happen in india, Indian citizens are very much concern about their rights (At least educated one..)

Arab media is not banned in Inida, but they dont have rights to uplink/downlink because they failed to register their channels and downlink bandwidth with MoIB (Ministery of Information and Boradcast).

Nothing to do with Israel or USA.
We have even El-Zazira news aired by one Indian Channel - India TV.
and even one 100% anti India propaganda channel for Pakistan Q TV (Supposidely A channel for spreading education about Quran)..

    I do, The Al-Zazera broadcast..

Still now we are busy to blame each other, I mean India & Pakistan. We have to look forward and have to forget all the bad things of the past. Look at the EU, why not we can work for South Aisan Union?

I agree with you there. If both India & pakistan managed to cut down their yearly diffence budget by half, it will be a gr8 boon for the poor people of both countries. The leadsership of both pakistan & India should be more meture to think in this line. Like Rakib said, look at the EU. Why India & Pakistan are not thinkin in this line..???>

Until the Muhammad’s deeds are considered holly, it'll be really hard for any non muslim group to unite with a muslim. What mutual interests will they have?

One day people will get rid off their ignorance and then all nations will live in a brotherhood fashion. This could take more or less 2,000 years till the Christ’s commandment "Love each other" is fulfilled.

Because whenever India tried peace formula, it got backstabbed by Pakistan.
    The laest was 'Kargil'.
So one way friendship is not possible, until Pakistan actively shuts down all the terrorist camps and terrorist activities..

Mumbai blast is not back stabbing(at least I dont consider it). its OUR faliure to protect out countrymen.
Its the loophole in our internal security(Police and town security) and Intelligence (RAW and CBI), Co-ordination, and last but not least the will power of our govt. against terrorism.
