Hello Folks, One of my forums has 1000 uniques a month purely organic with absolutely 0 advertising. Will it be a good idea to put adsense on it? I have never ventured into adsense in 10 years of my online experience so asking the experts out here - whats your take on this?
I would wait.. with that small amount of traffic, you'd probably only make pennies, and for each of those pennies, you're actually driving-away potential members that could be generating content for you (posting).. OTOH, i put Adsense on my site when it was getting even less traffic, and it didnt seem to hurt in the longrun ..
If you put now, it will save from future troubles. No ads may build community now but it will hurt more later as many people will not welcome ads. I'd suggest trying some alternative like bidvertiser with low limit( they pay at $10, see review here: http://bloggingwithsuccess.net/ad-network-series-bidevertiser )
it's not all about traffic, placement and type of visitors matter to. Just because you have 10,000 visitors doesn't mean you'll make a lot. You could make like $5 dollars with that kind of traffic if you have poorly placed ads or the traffic is really young or doesn't convert etc.
Yeah, you can add it now, but don't expekt much money. It is a small amount of money you will earn. Don't add too much advertisement since your forum has so small traffic.
I honestly don;t see how adding them would drive users away anyway, as long as they arent popups and you don;t put too many ads up you will be fine.
I would say put it up. If your forum has interesting content and the niche is high-paying, you will see some good earnings from it.
You must go for adsense now. I used it in one of my site that has only 70uv per day and i used to earn around 5$. I used to get 2$ on every click.. Its a mobile related site..
Added: but if you want to give best experience to your users then dont go for ads. I have a site that gets around 10k uniques per day but i dont have putted any adds there..
There's no reason to wait. As you have said, most of your traffic is from Search engines (organic). So these types of traffic actually pays more. I have a similar situation on one of my sites where I don't doo to much cuz i'm getting lazy and busy with other projects. I get about 800 visitors per month that are from search engines. They generate about $30 a month for me. Also most of the people who are frequent visitors rarely click on the ads as they know what they are. So my advice is to put them ads on and put it all over so they are tempted to click! Can't beat them search engine users as they pay very well. Good luck
