I always went by the total number of words another example dmoz.org <--pr 8 dmoz.org/Arts/ <-- pr 7 dmoz.org/Arts/Animation/ <-- pr 5 dmoz.org/Arts/Animation/Movies/ <-- pr 4 dmoz.org/Arts/Animation/Movies/Titles/ <-- No Page Rank Does that help?
submitting to directories is worthy enough to get pr and traffic...but the submitted link should stay for long time...yesterday i submitted my weblink to 1ma.net directory just for $1 (permanent links) ...it is the cheapest web directory i ever seen... : )
Directory submission is a waste of time. The only way to have a good traffic is to have quality content/product/service. I do not promote my sites, their content and service promotes itself.
Directory submission is worthless. The only worthwhile directories are the likes of Yahoo, BOTW, DMOZ, GoGuides etc. All these providers doing XXXXX directory submissions are providing links with 0 value.
Submission to Niche Directory – it's good to get links from niche directory. It adds value to your link relevancy.
In today's scenario, the crawler of search engines preferly give weightage to article submission, press release distribution, blog posting, social bookmarking and networking, Angelina link building, and 2 way/3 way link building over directory submission.
This directory issue makes me batty. lol ... seriously, because no one REALLY seems to know but yet that temptation to just get those extra backlinks no matter what it takes makes a person tempted to get their link in every directory possible - but so many disappear after a short time. So is there a simple yes or no answer to the question "Is it worth it" for the smaller, less known directories? I know DMOZ, Yahoo etc. are vital; I'm talking about these thousands and thousands of others...tx.
