^^ Thank you. Everyone acts like Google is the ultimate rule making authority. Last I checked the internet was still a free place.
If you were an advertiser who spend money trough AdWords and who try to make good quality website, I think you would think otherwise. And why do you think Google is making a break down on MFA ? It's because they pollute the ad system, and they threaten it. This is why Google is testing the CPA and MSN thinking about PPP. MFAs are, imo, one of the factors driving Pay Per Click to his end. And BTW, I worry about improving my sites, and don't moan, that just my feeling on the original question, don't worry, I have no power to menace your business
How is google cracking down on MFA sites? I haven't seen a single shift in months. Also, I spend hundreds a day on Adwords and I cope with it.
Maybe you didn't see shift , but others did, and anyway Google is trying hard: http://www.seomoz.org/blogdetail.php?ID=1270 http://www.jensense.com/archives/2006/07/new_landing_pag.html
I guess if you believe that stuff. I didn't see any shift in my prices after this "landing page quality" was put in place to "kill MFA" sites.
Actually, the point is not really what I believe or not. I think we're drifting from the initial point, I'm not only a webmaster making a living from the internet, I'm also a user of the internet. And, as a user, I hate landing on MFAs and scrapper sites. What I'm trying to do with my sites is to bring to the visitor some useful things, to provide him with a good experience, that what I expect from sites I am visiting. This is why I don't like MFAs and the like, I think they are kind of cheaters, like people going from houses to houses trying to sell expensives shit to naive peoples. But I'm not naive, I know this had always existed, and it will continue. Good for those who do it and make money with. But still, I don't like it, and I think it's harmful for the existing ad networking system. This is my opinion, sorry if you don't like it.
I don't like MFA's sites from a user standpoint either, but you have to agree that it's a problem the search engines created. Their indexing methods, their advertising methods, and their "rules"
You may spend hundreds a day (I spend a lot more), but I'll bet you don't use the content network, do you? I have a friend who runs a company with a $20 million dollar ad spending budget for PPC and they won't touch the content network because of click fraud and the fact that the clicks don't convert nearly as well. Publishers must remember that EVERYTHING starts with the advertiser. If hundreds of millions of dollars is being withheld from the content network, then publishers get paid less per click. I don't care if a MFA site has a 100% CTR - those clicks are not quality traffic that is going to result in the same type of conversion for the advertiser - which is exactly why a LOT of advertisers won't use the content network - or if they do, bid far less per click. There is no disputing that MFA, scrapper, and low quality sites don't perform as well as authority sites or google search do on a per click basis (from an advertiser view). MFA scrapper sites DO HARM legitimate sites because they take top ranking sites and scrape the first paragraph of content - the theory being that if you take a portion of content from each of the top ranking sites, your site will rank well - and in many cases they DO outrank the sites they took the content from. Google is already taking action against MFA sites because users hate them. They don't like going to a site that is nothing but a bunch of links when they perfrom a search. Google makes billions because of their users. They don't want to lose those users to another search engine. This is also why google has just changed their adwords bid policy/prices for sites that don't have relevant landing pages. MFA sites certainly make google a lot of money - but they also don't want to be the next AltaVista.
AdSense bans people all the time for not following TOS. It's their company, and I'm sure they know what they are doing. If not, they will fall off the face of the Earth.
It tells you that Google, at least for now, doesn't seem to care.... Which means they have a reason for it
Google don't ban MFA from AdSense program, but it does start to ban them from AdWords. First step maybe... And factchecker is right on that point: great job 1EighT
I really don't think google cares what search engine is used, as long as there ads are on the sites in the results and getting traffic.
They don't ban them from adwords either. They simply have a "quality" check that determines the quality of a landing page and increases or decreases minimum bids based on the result. Glad you guys like the aol tool. We tried to optimize it for speed
