Will my strategy work?

Hey DPers, I have some questions on my marketing strategy for the affiliate legends here and I hope that the answers will benefit others here who read them.

I intended to start using the following strategy to market clickbank products using only free techniques (until I make a reasonable amount of course then I'll start to do things properly) and I wondered if you gurus out there think it will work:

Basically I have read a lot about the importance of pre-selling and so have decided to have two or three layers of this before the sales page.

I intend to make a HubPage based on a buying/consuming keyphrase with reasonably low competition which will be designed to get the reader warmed up for the sale. This HubPage will link to a single page blogspot site to do some further pre-selling. The blogspot page links to the affiliate's sales page.

The goal is to get the HubPage to the top position in Google for my keyphrase and all the tricks apply here (blog commenting, articles linking to it, choosing URLs, titles and content with the keyphrase etc.) then getting the traffic through the 2 layers of pre-selling (possibly 3 if they click through an article).

Do you guys think this will work? If not, where's the pitfalls in the method?

I appreciate everyone's help and attention!

Yes you are going in the right direction. There is no doubt sites like hubpages and squidoo rank well in search engines with little link building.

Seems like you know the basics of ranking a site, I am sure the techniques will work.

    All the best...

Just make sure you target the right keywords. Google free keywords tool is great. I think the secret is too target the buying keywords as opposed to the most popular keywords. Usually they are not the same thing.

I assume the blogspot page will be used as a landing page in which you'll properly presell the customer on whatever product you are selling. If I was you I really wouldn't use blogspot for a pre-sell lander. 1) It looks tacky 2) Theres not much customization 3) Sub Domain = No Thanks.

For like $20 you can get yourself 3 months worth of hosting and a .COM domain on GoDaddy. Apart from that your method seems pretty good, it will work eventually but you'll have to put in the effort and remember at the beginning you wont see much return, as is the disadvantage of SEO and free traffic, but after building up links and various different funnels for a month you should start to see consistent income. Key = effort and motivation. Your return will be proportionate to both. If you're only going to put 30 minutes into creating these pages a day then you probably wont get far. However, If you put several hours, especially at the beginning and do so like everyday for a month you will see results come in pretty quickly.

    Hope this helps, Yousef.

Another reason not to use blogspot is because it ain't yours. In other words, blogspot can kill your page any time it wants. Of course, so can Hubpages. So, be sure you are putting good unique quality content up there and not affiliate marketing spamming:))

I wouldn't be surprised if hubpages follows what Squidoo did awhile back.

    Good luck

Thanks for all the comments guys!

@GrantDraper, @MatrixGodFather, @hornetss - Thanks for the encouragement! Very motivating!

@santi70 - I agree, google keywords tool is very good, I use it to target buying keywords as you say and then find ones with plenty of monthly searches but low enough competition. I usually define low competition as a reasonable amount of related google sites but also a top 5 that are not homepages, do not have loads of incoming links (I check this with Yahoo! SiteExplorer) and low PR.

@edrectory, @zeekstern - I completely agree with you guys, I should have my own web pages hosted on paid-for hosting, that is definitely the professional way of doing things! I am using the blogger 'Simple' template which doesn't have any sidebars but it isn't the greatest format for a landing page! However, the way I see it is that if I could make even one sale this way then that will be about $20-$50 (depending on the product) then I will then be covered for the hosting for a while!

Right, its off to HubPages with me!

An extra question for you all:

Once I have completed a Hub or an article would it be advisable to add it to a bunch of social bookmarking sites using an automated service like www.onlywire.com or similar? Or would this have a negative affect?

OP, remember that CB has a CDR (Customer Distribution Requirement) whereby you must obtain at least 5 sales via visa/mastercard before they release your first check, regardless of whether you opt for payout @ $10 or payout @ $100 so if you were planning to pay for your hosting with that first sale, not going to work.

Yes, this Web 2.0 Bum Marketing Method will work good. You can also add up one more site to this Wheel,
EzineArticles! This website ranks well in Google and Bing, so go ahead and add one more article to it.

You can make pretty much good money from Bum Marketing, if you are searching / targeting right keywords.
Best of Luck, and keep us posted :)
