how did you searched for the backlinks ? google will give less backlinks results,as google do not show all the backlinks .but yahoo will show you more backlinks .use backlinkwatch.com and see how many backlinks do you have

I suggest you to be patience and continuously do whatever you doing now.

If possible, try to add more posts in a week. 2 posts a week is still low. Try to calculate how many posts you will be making in year? 2/52 = 104 posts. You are competing with thousands of pages aged domains with strong backlinks. So, I suggest get more posts and diversify your link building activity.

As for backlink checker tool, try to some of the listed sites and compare the results and analysis of your domain.

You may see the results within months but consistency is the key.

Are you crazy? Why are you checking Google backlinks, Unless in your Webmaster tools account, Google never displays accurate number of backlinks. Use Yahoo siteexplorer instead, it provides much better results(backlinks i.e.). Most of the SEOs use Yahoo instead of google to research backlinks.

That depends on what you want to do with the backlinks your find. Are you just looking for the total number of backlnks you have? Or are you more interested in the number of backlinks that will count towards Google PR?

See, Yahoo site explorer will show you every mention of your site anywhere on the web. Google, however, will only show your link that it considers authentic, and that will count towards your PR. Unlike yahoo, Google does not consider link that are no-follow, crappy links from link farms to be true backlinks.

so, if you want to see any place that mentions your site, then use Yahoo site explorer. But if you want to see the links that Google actually conts, then use Google webmaster central.

It can easily take a couple of months. Google only updates the backlinks it counts a few times per year. It first has to determine if the backlink is worthy of counting.

It largely depends on the quality of the environment the link is placed in and a number of factors like age of the page, authority, relevancy to your content, number of other links on the page and can take anywhere from 1 day to never being recognized by google.
Want to get it recognized in a day when searching google for link:www.yoursite.com?
Assuming your website is about politics, get whitehouse.gov to link to you from the center of their homepage :)

Good example, but even then I don't think you'd see the backlink within a day. google only updates backlinks once or twice per month at most. So unless they update backlinks the next day after you've added it, then you're probably in for a wait, even if you do get a link from the whitehouse homepage.
