    As a webmaster, there is no excuse such as "don't know".
    There are thing that we should avoided in SEO, i was referring to a word "spamming" and i believe, we should not do this.

    * creating an automatic "doorway" pages.
    * cloaking
    * hidden links or hidden text
    * pages with irrelevant keywords
    * duplicate content on several pages
    * misspelling of certain popular keywords or website names
    * unrelated link farms

    Sometimes misspelling keywords can work in your favor if it is a commonly misspelled keyword.

    If your customers often spell your services wrong, sure you should do SEO for it.

    One example: doamin vs. domain. If you have a web hosting business or sell domain registration services, sure you should do soemoff site SEO for that.

    For one of the site's I mispelled the title and got around 50 uniques vistors for the mispelled keyword every day. It was a competing niche too :D
    One more thing to avoid is having too many OBL on your page.

    The techniques you've mentioned are all about Black Hat SEO. It uses unethical ways just to get back links. You'll have higher chances of getting ban if you participate on these kinds of techniques.

    I agree, misspellings can drive a lot of traffic if you've done your homework on which misspellings people are using.

    misspelled words are less competitve and high yielding keywords.
    consider an example
    SEO service: 26000000 competing pages and high commercial competition
    SOE service: 140000 competing pages and negligible competition and some total 2000 monthly searches if you convert at rate of 1 % you get 20 customers a month

    Google never removed it. It was just a not-so-important sub page for one of my site. So I just kept it there as it is w/o changing title. It brought traffic for 6-8 months, even though it stays on its first page today, the traffic somehow decreased to less than half.
    Regards,
    Richie.
