Maybe get a few friends to post.
You need it to be semi-active before anyone will join.
You need to think about this question... "What would make you want to join".
Also more targeted traffic is always good :D

Well you've stated what your major probelm is - is it a site about celebs, music, movies, jokes or other stuff?
Tha's too many subjects - start with a forum about ONE thing.

Well, I took a look a your site and like magda said, too many categories.. Maybe you should try changing or adding some different subcategories.
Example; Under Celebrities, create a category like "Celebrities Gossip", chat about the latest gossip on any bollywood Celebrities.

    Just a suggestion

I have always said, the 2 things people enjoy searching for online is Help/Information and New/Gossip.

People need a reason to register. In the forums, they usually registr when they find some interesting thread and they want to reply. So try to create a lot of interesting threads where your visitors will want to post.

It's always difficult to get the ball rolling with a forum. No-one wants to join a forum with little or no activity, but if you can appeal to friends to post thought-proking or perhaps controversial threads this should get things started.

Once you've got some action, you could always run a competition offering a prize for the best post or random draw of all forum participants.

Just add some content using auto-filling, write scripts to simulate activity and also two guys which will reply real messages :) Very easy.

I tend to agree with magda that it's usually best to target a certain niche with your forum. Get some friends to add some useful threads and you'll start to gain interest from the traffic you recieve. Then promote it hard and heavy

    Good luck

Has anyone ever tried one of those forum posting services? I ran across an ad the other day and decided to check out the Website and their long letter copy was very convincing. Being in marketing for as long as I have, I knew better than to believe everything I was reading, but I wonder if anyone has ever tried them.

It may be easy way how to fill the forum with a lot of content quickly. But be careful to avoid duplicate content. It is better to have less original posts than a lot of texts which can be found elsewhere.

I can tell you why people are not registering. The reason is simple, they don't need to register to get the content of your forum so they don't. Use <hide> tags so make content visible only after registering. For example make first picture of the post available for everyone but the rest only after registration.

This will probably help you get some more registered users ;)

Do you have experience with that? What is the % of the people who are active after the registration?

If I would need to register to read a forum post I think that after reading the post I would never visit the forum again. But that is only my opinion, if any forum owner here has the experience it would be nice to hear more about that.
