How to check conversions?

When I run different campaigns, how can I check whether the visitor that came did something of benefit to me (convert) or not? For example, I want to know what percentage of people that come through AdWords click to subscribe for my service. How can I measure this because right now I do not know if the person who subscribed came through organic traffic or paid?

Simply use Adwords' conversion tracking code. You'll see conversions in your Adwords account for each ad and keyword. It's a great way to optimize your campaign.

That would be nice, but I do not have a confirmation page. I use PayPal Premium account and cannot access the PayPal's confirmation page after payment.

Then create your own confirmation page.

I think I would need to have a Business account to make my own confirmation page. I do not have a registered company so I believe I cannot register for the Business account. What are my options?

Are you sure you need to be a registered company to open a business account. I just opened a Paypal business account for my wife and she has a dba business (doing business as), which if you are not familiar is a business set up in an individual's name. We did not have to input anything into the paypal account setup that indicated we needed to be registered.

In the paypal set up screen it allows you the option of inputting a custom URL to send your customers to after they have paid. This page is where you would put your conversion code.

I'm with SmallBizMkter. I think he's right. Since I have a business account, I couldn't really comment but I don't see why you would need to be.

My tracker doesn't require pixel placement. It works off subids and reconciles data that way.

Yes, but I'm not running a business under my own name. Also, when I get my money, it will probably say my business name which I have not even registered so I may have problems with my bank. Otherwise, then everyone would register for a Business account whether they have an actual business registered or not which PayPal probably does not want. I may have to contact them if nobody else tells me if they could get a Business account without registering a business name.
