I don't think it's going to have any effects to your pr but it could effect your last keyword on the search engines.
You'll drop down in the SERPs. The keywords you targeted if they were included in your title, you may even totally lose rankings for such keywords. You'll have to face the loss in traffic if your blog is big, temporarily though.
well, i am only going to change one word from the end of the title.. its not the keyword when people search. So now tell me, any effect?
Haven't tried changing the blog title, but changing my post titles to exclude my blog's title was quite a disastrous one last time.. a couple of weeks of going down in SERPs
It is my belief that the Title of Homepage should relate directly to what the overall theme of your site is and the content on it. You shouldn't stuff keywords in it but if the focus of your site is on one general keyword, by all means use it. For example, your site www.jeffstoys.com would feature in the title 'Jeff's Toys, The Best Prices of Toys for Sale' the goal being to focus the main keyword on 'toys for sale' If you gained ranking on that search phrase (toys for sale) and then removed it from your Title, you could potentially loose ranking for that phrase. However, it is my experience that (using the above example) if you had an ample amount of quality backlinks using the anchor text 'toys for sale' pointing at your site's homepage, your rankings would not be effected by the removal of the keyword from your title. My recommendations: focus on the content of your site, make it unique and make it quality. Then focus on getting links to your site with whatever targeted keywords you are focusing on. Don't stress about Titles. Hope this made a little sense.
no wonder my serps changed too. i've kept changing my titles to fit in to the questions in yahoo answers
