If its a genuine comment as you say then its probably better its in the original thread for reference purposes then starting a new one
I dont know about locking the thread. But yes it does irritate me when people post on a thread that hasnt been responded to in weeks or months. Where they do not look at the original post date. Or better yet do not read through the entire thread to comprehend that the original thread is dead, kaput, long gone, not relevant, flamed and so on................................. Some days I need to start a new/fresh thread for services I provide. I got a red infraction for bumping a thread I started. But I waited like 2 days before bumping the thread. When I bumped it - it was like on the 3rd or 4th page back on the service section and I didnt feel like repeating myself. Just wanted people I was taking on more work. So when is it a good time to start a new thread so one would avoid infractions and avoid bumping.
TOPS30 says that you should always start a new thread, but change description/title, because obviously the previous thread is not compelling enough for enough takers. example. this thread title attracted alot of replies. this one, on the other hand, didn't get a single reply.
We could do with a message that alerts you if you try to bump an old thread. Some newbies genuinely don't realise that its an old thread.
lol I am sure this is good for some people. But someone yelled dup(duplicate) when I did this and I got banned for 2 weeks. This is when I first started out posting here.
