Is there a recommended number of keywords to use for your site in Adwords? Is having "too many" keywords bad? Paul
Yes, if you have too many it is bad. You're talking about your quality score? You need your keyword phrase once in your title tag, once in your description tag, once in a <h1 tag. Then 4%'ish in your content. Then make sure you name your adgroups with your keyword phrase and then just focus all your keywords to that phrase.
I don't have an <h1> tag on my pages... i'm using <h2> for my page titles. Can I do something like this? <h1 class="invisible"><span>keyword1, keyword2, etc.</span></h1> .....or will the Google indexer penalize me for it (invisible text)...?
You cant have any hidden text, the search engines will pick it up. Why dont you just make some style for the h1 tag and make it look identical to your h2, you could then have a h1 tag at the top and it would look identical to the rest of the h2 tags. Why you not using h1 for your titles?
Google will penalize you for trying anything similar to this. Just write content and put your keyword in there in a white hat way and you will be fine. Do not try to cheat the search engines. Use <h1> and <b> (or <strong>) tags and use accurate <title> and <meta> tags.
