Questions about rankings?

Hello, I have a few sites I'm promoting and hoping to get good rankings for. The first days my sites were up, they all got first page placement on Google for my targeted keywords which have about 6 million to 60 million results. After two weeks or so, they completely fell. My guess is because of the freshness boost for my sites. Would they eventually work their way up the rankings over time? A lot of people told me to wait a few months and to keep updating my sites and they'll get back up there? Is that true? Thanks for your hep guys!:)

well that pattern is usually termed as Google honeymoon. In this period Google ranked a brand new website on top positions for very competitive keywords but after 2 weeks to 1 months, it pull back the ranking and then assign the new stable ranking on the basis of the data of first two weeks or a month. And yes if you keep updating your website, it will eventually regain its rankings within a month or two :)

it is quite normal for the new sites and you are right about the fresh content benefit. just keep working on your link building and you will seee the site coming back up slowly.

Ranking fluctuation is common especially for new sites. SEO/linkbuilding should be a continuous process to gain a more stable ranking in search engine. Your site needs more quality links to outrank your competition.

they should be back to the top if you continue adding content and building links. the duration however will depand on how hard your targeted keywords are, it can take from a few weeks to 1 year.

Don't stop anything. Just do link building for your websites, through different off page SEO techniques.

Well I would only say that you should continue with the link building efforts for your site. Keep updating them frequently. Its backlinks and uniqueness and freshness of contents that counts very much for higher search engine rankings. Concentrate on getting more backlinks from relevant and high pr sources.

You have to keep on updating your site as well as you have to get more backlinks to your site.
Getting more backlinks will help you a lot to recover sooner.
