I love to ride. I started with sccoters (Piaggio and Nexus 50ccm), then Honda FZR400 (from 1988). Then I got Honda CBR 600rr (from 2006), and my last motorcycle that I still have Honda CBR 1000rr (2007). I started to drive when I was 18. That was 5 years ago.

Nice speed triple man...have you taken it to the track?

Post up a pic of your 1000rr if you would....how do you like it?

    lol

Completely false....think about all of the car racing series over the last 10-15 years. There have been dozens of deaths, from Nascar, to Formula 1, to Indy Car racing. Dale Earnhardt, Ayrton Senna and Greg Moore are just a few examples.

Now look at the major motorcycle racing series over the last 10 years. MotoGP, World Superbike and AMA Superbike...no deaths!

    Do you know why?

    G-Forces!

When you crash in a car, whether on the racetrack or street, your body experiences massive G-forces because you're basically taking the brunt of 3 - 4000 pounds of weight (the car) that your body then has to absorb. Because you are strapped into it with a seatbelt, you're body can barely move, which transfers all of that weight and G-force from the impact directly into your body...this is what killed Dale Earnhardt for example.

75% of all motorcycle accidents are single vehicle accidents (meaning just the motorcyclist) and if you are a true motorcyclist and wearing full leather gear from head to toe and a full face helmet, you will many times slide, roll and tumble in a crash, but this is actually helping to save your life, because it's dissipating G-forces (which in a car you can't do)

Over the last 50 years of motorsports there have been 85% more deaths in car racing than in motorcycle racing. The above explanation is why.

On a personal note, I recently witnessed a car vs. bike accident in my hometown where a lady in a Honda Civic ran a red light and was struck by a motorcyclist who was travelling through his green light. He was smart enough to be wearing leathers and was thrown over the car, The lady who ran the red light was killed on impact...the motorcyclist (now a friend of mine) walked away from the accident with only a broken thumb.

    Regards

This is my new baby...2009 Ducati 1198

I totally agree about your post btw, if you ride smart you can do it safely for years...and you definitely don't want to ride on the back with your grandfather behind the controls ;)

It will depend on the skill of the drivera and the type of BIKE. Safety first should be considered-always!

Motorcycles are inherently dangerous. So is skydiving, bungie jumping, and many other things. For people that enjoy it, they accept the risk as a necessary part of the activity.

very true...if you're passionate about something you take that calculated risk, whether horseback riding or cliff diving for instance.

A pic of my zzr600 - looks fairly dated compared to modern sports bikes but it still puts a smile on my face :D It's a pig to work on though.

Bikes are really cool especially when your running over the speed of 140...
I like the one on BMW and Honda, and in terms of safety, it's just up to the drivers' discipline and perception on the situation.

I prefer cars when riding with someone and motorcycles when I'm alone, riding alone gives you the feeling of being "free"... :)
