$100 Mobile Phones Blog design

Hi guys

well I am thinking of redesigning one of my blogs. The site is Mobile News

The blog is about mobile phones and anything related to them. But as you can see, the current theme of the blog is not that nice and used friendly. Here are more details.

WHAT TO DO

• use white background for text area
• make a header
• make a logo, smth like MobileInfos with a nice font
• keep the design with plain colors so it can be adsense optimized
• content you can take from the current site

WHAT NOT TO DO

• NO templates, I know them by heart and will identify it
• do not use many colors use a few, keep the site clean
• do not just drop a crap here, I want a simple, plain and pleasant design

CONTEST RULES

• I will set a deadline of 7 days for the content. It will expire in 7 days from the moment of posting
• I reserve the right to not pick a winner, or to extend the contest, if none of the posted designs are of favor for me.
• The winner will be paid via paypal
• The winner had to submit the PSD file, fonts and images used
• No coding is required.
• Feel free to watermark any design you post.
• Feel free to use stock photos

• www.conceptmobiles.com - its a customized template but nice, though I need light colors for my blog
• www.designerhandbagspro.com - another clean and customized theme

Nothing else comes to my mind, I am here to comment and help you, help me get smth with quality

 

I would like to add smth to the rules

ALL APPLICANTS SHOULD SUBMIT THEIR DESIGNS IN THIS THREAD, NO PMed or EMAILS DESIGNS WILL BE ACCEPTED, NO MATTER HOW GOOD THEY ARE

 

Okay I can do it but I need a sample on what do you want...
What boxes - twitter stuff - positions ?
Can you do them a little on paint for example :?
And yeah - prefered colours ,web 2?

1. The design can be 2 or 3 columns, doesnt matter for me, whichever one you think is better
2. In the sidebar (left or right doesnt matter) I need to have 125x125 banner area, maximum 2 banners, Categories section, Links section, Archives section, Tags and donations
3. maybe having a featured area would look good ?
4. i dont care about the twitter link
5. preferred colors vary for me, I am a developer/designer myself. But the colors would be on white, whatever you think goes with it, it can be orange, blue, red, green or whatever...

I made it web2ish with glossy black,gray-white for the text areas,and a bit orange

What I really liked is how you did with the google search

I dont care about the twitter icon, I would even like to take it out
You need more attention on the header. it needs to be compact, with nice fonts and font sizes. currently its not easy readable
Next thing I would like to outline is that you dont have to use the current structure you are free on it. I will be hiring a WP Coder who will code this design

You might wanna visit intomobile,com to see what mobile phone related blogs can look like I really like its simplicity. I also like engadget,com again nice and simple

One more question..
Does it have to be "Mobile and Mobile" or it can be just "Mobile News and Info"
I will try to fix it maybe later today or tomorrow

PS.Your current structure is nice - everything is clearly visible and has it order and in your head when you search something it is like "default"

 

As I have mentioned in my first post, you can create a so called logo

write MobileInfos in Calibri or Trebuchet MS and have Mobile in bold or dark blue and Infos in light blue, or any other color you find to be nice. Like the intomobile logo

try making the header are from top to the end of links (where the scrollable featured posts state) more simple
second: think what if the post title is longer...?
and I dont like the brown color, sorry but seems its not what I want
I would like to ask you to try the other option with another color, keep the orange for this version, second try with smth else

I've made an upgraded version in blue...because of the header..
I thought to put featured videos but I don't know if you will use them...
Tell me if you want to correct / put / cut / trash / add something so I could do it...

I think you still have to go for it. not much is changed, check how jn has worked out a lot of things on the header and the top area overall

 

I consulted my friends, they say orange is good I guess they got tired of the blue all around the web

in any case. I like how you have lightened the header

forgot last time, site name is MobileInfos, s at the end

so far I like your design, you can either wait till the end or give it another try I think you can do better since I checked out your portfolio
