what is the go with .cm domain names?

This is something i have only recently seen at domain name registrars

The option to register a '.cm' domain name extension?

Am i the only one who thinks people might try to abuse this hoping to get type in domain traffic from people who leave out the .com and search .cm

Are people silly enough to stuff up typing .cm instead of .com?

Will people try to copy site design from well know legit .com sites and set up .cm for this purpose and try to fool people......... that should be illegal?

Is it smart for .com owners to buy the .cm extension of their domain name?

Thanks to people who can shed some light on this issue :)

Well .cm is a country level domain of Republic of Cameroon yes its somewhat a typo of .com but then its a extension by itself.. price wise .cm is very high priced though

big traffic typins domains are already gone :D

you can't copy design of .com site and place in .cm

no big sales so far so better to avoid that tld

Normal people didn't type any url into their browser. It is depend or your SEo skills to rank your site. Maybe your .cm site will rank high in cameroon country ip..lol..

.cm is just a TLD's extension and .cm domain is so expensive.Maybe its value is typo of .com to some people. But I don't think it'll become popular for this simple reason.Based on its
expensive price and lack of popularity,it's not a wise choice for using it to most people at present.

I think Kevin Ham from HitFarm has bought the rights
for unregistered .CM domains to show his ads .

You're right - he did, and what an amazing move. He registered all of the most valuable domains for it, too. That guy is truly amazing...INSANE domain portfolio!!

Who? Really? I just look the hitfam website and saw a missing img hitfarm.com/images/logo.gif from the about page. Whoops!

    So there's that.

Anyway, don't you have to prove you have a connection with the Cameroon to register .cm? Or is that only some domains?

Markn26 - thanks for the article link, that info was amazing

That guy is already making billions from .cm domain names from direct type in traffic from mispellings

Kevin Ham struck a deal with the Cameroon Government for .cm without even actually owning one domain. He just rents or revenue shares with them and gets the traffic redirected to a page on the same niche with targetted ads.....

The article also says "And if he gets his way, Colombia (.co), Oman (.om), Niger (.ne), and Ethiopia (.et) will be his as well" to get income from typo direct navigation traffic who click on ads.

All the rich people are a head of the game ;)
