Selling SearchMerge ~ Social Search Engine

Hi,

I'm selling my website: SearchMerge.com.

SearchMerge is a social search engine that enables users to search several social websites all in one go (such as Twitter, Vimeo and YouTube).

We've been covered on several top web blogs such as Mashable (http://mashable.com/2009/05/19/searchmerge/) and are considered one of the biggest and best social search engines at the moment.

The site has a great potential for growth and has the potential to make a lot of money a month through models such as sponsored search results.

I tried to sell this a few months back and received a BIN offer of $2,000 but the deal fell through due to the buyer not responding so I've finally declined his offer.

Any income proof? and any reserve?

 

We're not currently monetizing the site as we just want to make a sale to fund a new website.

Also, no reserve, just $250 minimum.

 

What type of server is required to host this. How much bandwith is used per month?

 

No specific type of server is required, apart from that the server must have PHP installed (with the cURL extension enabled). As for bandwidth usage the site is currently using roughly around 500MB (on average) a month so far.

 

Since it will be pulling a lot of results from those sites, what are the api registration requirements to pull results from those sites?

Also, is there a backend for managing the site?

There are no requirements, you simply need to apply for an API key for these websites (you get the keys instantly or you can use the exiting ones):

• Flickr
• FriendFeed
• Google
• Last.fm
• Twitter
• Vimeo
• YouTube

Thanks Also, I forgot to mention that I'm able to host the site for another month once it's been sold if you need to sort out hosting afterwards.

 

It seems the search results can only display on one page. Also, what kind of support will you provide after it's been sold?

 

I'm happy to provide any help when it comes to moving the site to a new server, how to improve the codebase and I will also help you get it on some more big blogs if you want me to.

Bing not included ?

 

I'm afraid not as when the site was released Bing was not public. I'm happy to code support for Bing if someone offers well for the site

 

The site says you're currently moving servers?

 

We were recently and we've left it there for a little longer in case some users get downtime and don't know why.

Though, I've now removed it as users shouldn't experience any more downtime.

 

Any traffic stats?
Did you share/sell copies of the source code before?
Buyer gets full exclusive rights to source code?

Why is the Vimeo videos can't display in the search results?

 

This is an issue on Vimeo's end. I've sent them an email and hopefully we can get it resolved quickly.
