Odd, the majority of them voted for it. Strange... I like to call this the WA (Waffle Affect). Translation: I am for it, if it is popular, if it is not, I'm against it. If public opinion is split 50/50, then I am both for and against it. This is also sometimes referred to as HMCAEIT - Having my cake and eating it too!
Maybe the majority of politicans not the majority of democrats Ideally every person who voted for the war should lose their seat.
really? Well here is the complete list of Dems that voted AGAINST the war: Daniel Akaka (D-HI) Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) Barbara Boxer (D-CA) Robert Byrd (D-WV) Lincoln Chafee (R-RI) Kent Conrad (D-ND) Jon Corzine (D-NJ) Mark Dayton (D-MN) Richard Durbin (D-IL) Russell Feingold (D-WI) Robert Graham (D-FL) Daniel Inouye (D-HI) James Jeffords (I-VT) Edward Kennedy (D-MA) Patrick Leahy (D-VT) Carl Levin (D-MI) Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) Patty Murray (D-WA) Jack Reed (D-RI) Paul Sarbanes (D-MD) Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) Paul Wellstone (D-MN) Ron Wyden (D-OR) Not a majority, LMAO!
Are you guys retarded? You can't seem to understand the difference between people who generally consider themselves democrats and they people who are actually elected officials. excuse me This should be "Maybe the majority of democractic politicans might have voted for it, but the majority of the population who considers themselves democrats wouldn't have"
Again, you apparently have no idea how the US Political system works. The "voters", if you are referring to the "US Public" did not vote to go into Iraq. The US Congress did. The Majority of them did. Both Republican and Democrat. Do you really expect me to believe there was a public vote? We live in a Representative Republic. You might want to Google for the definition. I'd let this argument die quietly if you want to save face. But that is not what you said. Are you re-writing your own posts now? It is pretty clear what "voters" we are referring to. The "elected officials", which are "politicians", not the American voting public. The war in Iraq was no more put to a vote by the populous as a whole than the Clinton tax hike. Say it with me.... R E P R E S E N T A T I V E R E P U B L I C You should really audit a PolySci class. It would be well worth it IMHO. It would make discussions with you a bit less entertaining.
I rewrote it to make it more clear what I meant, do you understand that? And what I meant if there "was" a vote on going to war in Iraq, which I know there wasn't, most of the public who identifies them selves as democrats wouldn't have voted for it. The contrast between the what the people want and what the politicans are doing is why most of the polititicans should go. Save face? How is that war going? Do you see yet how stupid it was to go in there yet? How pig headed and naive its was to think that we could just send a bunch of soldiers in there and create a new democracy ? Do you see that getting close to 100,000 people have died and trillion dollars spent and we have nothing to show for it? NOTHING to show for it? Do you see that yet? Do you actually think that we can go in there and just convince people who have been killing each other 1400 years to just let it go and make a country? We can jsut hand them an American Flag and everything will be ok?
Often times I guess I am a bit confused by your grammatically deficient posts. My apologies. There's hind sight speaking again! Actually, if you roll back the clocks, and did put it to a vote, (hypothetically) if we were a true democracy? The majority would have been for it. The politicians are doing what the people that elected them want them to do. That's why they are there. If they are not, vote them out. Again, you might want to read up on what a Representative Republic is, and how our system of government works. It is quite revolutionary. It is only pig headed and stupid to those that are on the other team, or those that are ignorant. Which one are you? Yep, nothing to show for it. NOT A SINGLE TERRORIST ATTACK ON US SOIL SINCE 9/11. Are you done yet? We are not trying to convince terrorists to be nice. We are killing them. Everything else falls into place as each one is neutralized. More has been accomplished in under 3 years than nearly 100 years since the US declared it's independence. I do not think you fully understand the scope of this undertaking.
I don't exactly understand that How is being against the War in Iraq "extreme left wing" Most people in the country are against the war, right? So how is that extreme?
I didn't like the war in the first place, but I think it would be a very big mistake to leave immediately. I know many...many liberals....that think the same. I live in the bay area. So it's not like it's an unknown position or irrational. They may disagree with Bush's methods, but that doesn't change the situation.
