Let's say i had 100 unique articles to publish

which would be better for SERPs ?

    1. Posting all the articles to my website

    OR

    2. Posting the articles to directories such as EzineArticles.com

Many thanks for any advice :)

I'd say drip-feed 75% on your website and the remaining 25% to article directories.

Linking should always be secondary to content on the landing page.

Post all of them to both. Not at one time. And if you had 100 articles to post, chances are they are PLR. Don't use them at all without rewriting the heck out of them:))

If you have all unique content 100 articles, here is the way I will do.
    1. Post 50 articles to my site
    2. Post remaining 50 at ezinearticles with each article linking to 1. Main URL 2. Inner page
That way all 50 articles on my site gets backlink from ezine.
Once all articles are approved at ezine, I will submit same articles at 3-4 more directories.

If you have unique articles, post them on your website and try to bookmark those pages, that will help them index better. If you link a few ones (lets say 10) with ezine that will be good..Have most of them on your site

80% of the article put at your own site, you can pend 20% of them to article submission site such as ezine

post all articles on your site and make smaller paraphrased versions to post on other sites where people will want to read the rest of the real article on your site bringing you traffic to your unique site

Do both. Post them on your own site, then re-write them and submit them to article directories.

Do not use all of them in any.You should try a 50-50 job.Try to post half of the available articles at ezine and the remaining in your site.I hope your site enjoy a good amount of traffic. If it does not, then you can post more articles in your ezine site.

Currently I post all my unique articles on several article directories - then I re-write a small paragraph and post it to my site - with the external articles directly linking to my paragraphed page.

How about doing both? Take more time but it does get your name out there for more traffic. Make sure you put a link back to your website when you post in directories

WOW - thank you for all your responses and GREAT answers.

So it seems that most agree on a 50% - 50% method to post half the articles on directories and half of them on your website .. is that correct ? And yes all the articles I have are UNIQUE ( outsourced to authors) and not plr.

If you submit duplicate articles to several directories would the search engines disqualify you ? I have heard about duplicate content being bad but not too clear on this.

I would say 50% is generous, try putting 80/20. You need to give people a good reason to visit your site and if half the content is elsewhere then whats the point? There is probably another website which will have more articles about your niche than you then.

    Hi Simastar

Yes i agree - it seems logical to have more content on your site from a user point of view.....however, what I am wondering is how the Search Engines rank content ... i mean, do they give more weight to content on article directories OR do they give more weight to articles on your own site.

in my own opinion, i rather post the articles on my website to gain subsriber, earnings, traffic and so on, just submit your article on digg and other bookmarking site in order for you to boost your serp. the more unique article you make and post it on your blog, the more good results you will get.

Submit an unique article to each of top directories. Place the rest to your site.

I say do a rerwite of all 100 articles to make them have the same message but in different words and put the 100 rerwite's on your site and submit the other 100 articles to EZarticleswith links going to each page and you should be golden.

You could also do a small 1 paragraph follow up on each page of your site and submit the 100 articles to ezarticles so that there is no issue's at all with dup. content.
