I was sitting here this evening and thought that I spent way to much time on this and other forums, posting about various issues. I value this time very much as it is a great learning resource but I also thought, hey, your wasting your time here. This led me to divide my time up so that I am on a type of timetable for my web development. A typical full time day: 9 - 10 Check stats, earnings and emails 10-12 Add content to a website 12-13 Have lunch 13-15 Forum and SEO technique research and learning time 16-17 Put SEO methods into place and link build I will try to keep to this as best I can, I think it will increase productivity as I waste so much time surfing the web checking forums and the rest too much. Do you guys have any timetables or time keeping methods?
One thing I suggest before you do that is check how long it takes you to check your stats, earning, ect. and round up that time. For me, it only takes 15 mins so if that would be my schedule, adding content for what I planned on being 2 hours turned into almost 3 hours which could be a little overwhelming. Then lunch comes early and messes up the whole schedule. Run through what you need to do and time everything and plan accordingly.
Yes indeed i have this for a long time ago and i follow it every single day. My schedule is as follow 10-13 Reply/check email, sent out newsletter, write article, reply to comment. 13-15 Link building for website 15-16 Brainstorm for the new article to write for tomorrow.
I really need to make a timetable. My life's too erratic Using any software to keep a tab of to do list and for timetable?
I shoudl have also put in that hour, time to spend on things which I didn't anticipate e.g. host having downtime and getting on to support to get my site back up. Replying to emails can sometimes also take longer than expected. I understand though, writing articles often takes longer than 2 hours.
I generally spend the first half of my day dealing with emails/calls and keeping up to date with news, then have lunch and spend the rest of the day on focusing on website changes/SEO.
I spend three hours a day training staff and helping to manually authorise every website that is submitted to our directory, after that its whatever I get thrown at me.
I check emails, then spend a couple of hours link building, then article writing. I try not to push myself to get things done in a specific time, because the pressure to stick to a time schedule is too much stress. I work best when I don't have time constaints, I have food when I feel like I need a break. I usually aim to be off the computer by 4pm to do housework and stuff.
This is what is great about web development you can work when you want and in what surroundings you like. Although if they had wireless internet on the beach I would be there everyday doing this!
I don't have a rigorous schedule, though I have started to think that I should have one. What I thought to be the most important task to be done in a particular day, that's where my focus will be. If link building is what I believed to be the most pressing need, then I spend the whole day link building. The next day I move on to building content.
You can get online via your phone and bluetooth. But guess what? Your laptop fills up with sand blown by the wind, and its lifespan is dramatically shortened.

I use Outlook and Invite myself to the meetings on my cell phone. Then I send the invites to my cell phone to remind me. It has worked really well to this point. If you don't have Outlook on your machine, you can use Google Calendar from your Gmail account and set filter rules to your cell phone's email address. I'll see what I can do about creating a cheat sheet in PDF for this. There's it's on my ToDo list Now
Sounds good, maybe I will have a look at outlook to see if it is a decent time keeper. Ultimately it comes down to the person though and self discipline, little things like cell notifications can help though.
