Googe site reconsideration

A site I had created was taking a really long time to index. Some folks here suggested that I submit the site for reconsideration to Google.

In the meantime Google did appear to index one page of the site. I was able to search for a particular phrase or sentence from that page and get a hit. Oddly, if I looked it up using "site:mywebpage.com" it would list the page as "under construction" even though the Google cache had the full contents.

Today I received this message in my Google Wemaster Tools:

"We've now reviewed your site. When we review a site, we check to see if it's in violation of our Webmaster Guidelines. If we don't find any problems, we'll reconsider our indexing of your site. If your site still doesn't appear in our search results, check our Help Center for steps you can take."

I can't really tell whether this means they found something they didn't like or not. I am noticing however that the site is not appearing at all in search results now. That is, it is still appearing as "under construction" when I do a site search (even though that content no longer exists), but when I look for a phrase or sentence, I now get nothing.

I'm a total noob at this, so maybe I just need to give Google a couple days to re-index the site. I have been learning that I need to be more patient, and that re-indexing moves pretty slow. It just seemed odd to me thought that they would remove an index in the process of re-indexing it, so I was a bit alarmed. Any insights would be appreciated.

The reconsideration tool is used in case your website brake google rules and is banned. If you have new website which doesn't get indexed for a long time (more than a few days), in 99% is the reason lack of backlinks. Simply build a few backlinks and google will find your website and index it.

The time between first and second index may be more then a few days. This is the reason why you can see "under construction" page in the google cache. Simply wait until googlebot will come back and reindex your website.

reconsideration is not for you mate, it is for banned sites, penalized sites and infected websites, what you need is Links, you need to build more links for your website. that's the only way to speed up the indexing process.

Yes that was a noob mistake of mine, and I do understand that now. I do, BTW, have quite a few quality backlinks to the site which all appear on Google.

I was just worried that perhaps Google had decided to ban my site now since it was suddenly missing from search results that it was previously in

You should post a link for us and we can look to see if you have major errors, we could even give you some pointers.

Make sure you have a h1 tag on each page, and xml sitemap etc.

And most importantly get links to your index page and every other page.

Lots of people on this site have posted lists of directories, blogs, social bookmarking site etc

Start off by making a free wordpress site and write an article related to your site, and add some links in the article

it's normal to disapear from the index a few days when you have an extremely new website, and i don't think your website is banned, i am sure it will come back to the index sooner or later. for now if your website is not indexed yet or is fluctuating, you need more quality links, watch this video, matt cuts from google talks about how to index your website faster:

    good luck

You may have been sandboxed if you are targeting a highly competitive keyword, just get links in and wait.

Sandbox is an effect which happens to new websites. When is your website sandboxed it can't rank well for any keywords. After a few months this effect disappears.

The only advice i can give is to try and add some more words to the page.

And reduce the amount of keywords you have, even thought they aren't meant to count, you could be seen as keyword stuffing. A tip for you, if the word is not on the page then it could be seen as key word stuffing.

The issue for me is not that it is not ranking well, but that it is not appearing at all. So while I appreciate that it is good advice to use inbound links to increase page rank (and I have done this), the issue I am concerned with here is whether Google had banned my site for some infraction which I am not aware of (in which case I would like to find out what I did wrong and fix it), or whether I just need to sit tight and wait for Google to re-index the site all by itself? (which can sometimes feel like waiting for a glacier to melt!)
