I am currently getting #1 rankings for these keywords in Yahoo. (Google is not as considerate). I was wondering if I am doing things right with the way the keywords are placed, or if they are too spammy...should I add more text to the page to blend the KW's in? The pages are MySpace Background Images and 2007 nature calendars. I have many more like that, but those are the best examples. How do they look? Thanks in advance! Jonathan
I dont see any spamming at all with these. You might want to add a bit more text to the pages. I seen your finger lakes pages and you are using the text links, try doing the same for the others. How old are the sites? I like your photos of Watkins Glen and the Finger lakes, I did a lot of exploring around that part of NY last year and think its a great area.
Thank you for your compliments Turf Sniffer! I love the Finger Lakes area where I live! The site has been around since November 2005. I will add more text. I use ALT Text for the images, but I was not sure if the Heading and the text at the bottom of the page was too much. I was ranked well in Google before, and they completely dropped, and so I was just making sure that my pages were OK
I see that your sitemap is not linked though-out the site so you should place a text link to that page on the footer of every page but in saying that your sitemap isnt complete as it should have links to every page across the site. Actually I am noticing that your finger-lake links are going to different pages but with the same photos and text links - this might hurt you with Google and I cant see what purpose this might serve in having the site structured like this. You should structure the pages like below: Letchworth Stony Brook Watkins Glen Fingerlakes On each page link to the photo with the image and also using the text link. On your sidebar also add the fingerlakes link - you will need to select which finger links page you are going to use as the main finger links photo page such as finger-lakes-new-york.html - doing this means you will have to remove the other finger-lake pages which to be honest isnt serving you any purpose at the moment. The tricky part is selecting the pages to remove as you dont want to drop out of Yahoo too and if you do remove pages then you might want to consider using a 301 redirect. Once you have decided what pages you want on the site then start building your sitemap that will have links to every page on your site. Before you start deleting pages and making all sorts of changes my advice is sit down with pen & paper and draw out a structure. Another thing if you have text at the bottom of the page and isnt for the visitor consider removing it or moving it up the page and add more text content with it like giving a brief descrition of the area, a paragraph or two should do it. Hope this helps and doesnt confuse I lived in Syracuse for a couple of years so I wast far from you *edit* I should have mentioned that Google is broken so many of us have dropped from their index too so you just might want to sit this out until the get it fixed.
Thank you for your advice. One thing I want to say is that the reason I have so many pages of the same thing is because I want to target different keywords for the Finger Lakes. Maybe I have too many pages of them, but that is what my plan was. Thanks once again! Jonathan
OK so probably your best plan would be is make each page unique to the keywords you are targetting using some paragraphs and different photos on each page. I hope this helps and good luck
1eightT knows what he´s talking about (being the promoter of the simplifiedsec doorway generator)... OK, I am not a close friend with white of whites tactics. Anything white now can turn into black in 6 months. I remembre the times when doorways were fine, hidden text not bad or FIR fully acceptable. No matter if it is shady. If you know it is not absolutely black and you just break the SEs rules purposely, it ios always worth.
