Hello guys I'm looking for alternative way of marketing a music site where we sell CD. We are doing all normal things like myspace, adwords, affiliates and lots of others. I also started submitting site to stumbleupon.com site. what else can I do? Shahed
Seo it, post on some related forums... p.l.u.r. p.s. can you explain what are alternative ways? Didn't really understand it...
I don't have experience with music sites myself. But there's a post on the sitepoint forums of a guy who had some success submitting free mp3s to sites. You could try that out. Here's the sitepoint post: http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showpost.php?p=181898&postcount=25 and here's the whole thread it came from: http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22374 There's a lot of good info in that thread, a definite must read.
Free samples always go well with such website promotion. That way people can get a sense of a CD, it will draw them to the website. I also suggest creating groups or joining groups of music lovers on myspace and promotion on music forums.
I get decent traffic to my indie music webzine from them, and my conversion rates actually went up since I started using them. I know someone in another thread made a mention of them possibly being a problem with Adsense. I just heard back from Google this morning saying adding your sites is fine though... just thought I'd throw that out there if there were any concerns. I'm just slightly paranoid, so I figured it was best to ask them. I know not everyone has as much luck with them as I do though. Jenn
Well then it comes down to 2 main things: 1. Are you selling them on your own, or just as an affiliate. 2. Why should people buy from you in a market that's already saturated? Can you narrow it down more into a niche? Are you offering unique reviews of the products that can't be found elsewhere? Are your prices better than other online and even brick and mortar retailers? Jenn
Jenn we do not have any issues as per as site and we are good on sales. just trying to find what else can we do?
Hi, free mp3 are allway good to get people, you could add the link to your page spoken to each mp3. there are puplic domain homepages for music - if you have some free mp3 on your page may you can post there a link.
Just make reviews, or anything about famous bands and you will eventually start getting SE traffic. I didn't know it would work but it's been working for www.emonews.net
Start by interviewing singers and bands. They will then post in their website Site X reviewed our band.
Yeah that definately works. I did that and the band posted a bulletin to 10,000 people and talked about it in their blog.

Yep, I review music on my blog (jackslounge.blogspot.com), and I get a few google hits each day, normally I'm on the first page of results if you search for "artist" "album" reiew. I have a pretty small niche (Australian Artists), which helps. I still only get 50ish hits per day (if I'm lucky), so I need to find somewhere to submit reviews - might try stumbleupon..
