Why should God let you into heaven when you die?

Why should God let me into heaven when I die?
I believe it is like with children in a family: We get called in if we belong to the family. Even if the neighbour's children behave better, they won't be called in. They call their own child because he or she belongs to them.
Isn't it the same with God's family? If we bear His name, we get in.
Will you be there? Why? What do you think?

That is a very cold way of looking at it buddy. If god is all knowing and all powerful , he is also all loving, and his love is ona level that is beyond our comprehension. The final judgement shoudl be left to god, but as for me I pray for everyone to be in heaven whether they are catholic, christian, muslim, hindu, buddhist, atheist (stox will get in but saint peter will trip him a few times before he gets passage lol) and druze. Why would you wish hell on any human being? Isnt it spirtually a bit cold to do so?

If you are already not in heaven now (like feeling huge joy and love in your pure heart) , you may not go in heaven after death.

The Land of Oz (The wizard of Oz) was invented by Lyman Braun.
The "Wonderland" (from alice in wonderland) was invented by Lewis Carroll.

    Who invented "heaven" and "hell"?

Or... here's a question for the religious gurus in this forum to solve:

    Three facts:
    • Christians and Muslims regard the jewish bible (old testament) as "real" (a message from god) and not as something that the jews "invented".
    • In Islam and Christianity, the concepts of heaven and hell are well-defined. It appears in the new-testament and the quran.
    • In judaism, there is no well-defined concept of "heaven" source. The words "heaven" and "hell" are not mentioned in the old-testament at all.

So if these 3 facts were to coexist with the existence of god, anybody care to explain how did god "forget" to mention and explain this tiny bit of non-important piece of information about his creation to humanity in his first correspondence with humanity? does god suffer from amnesia?

Another simple, plausible, straightforward solution to the above dilemma and dozens of similar dilemmas that I can show is.... : god does not exist. neither do heaven and hell. the old and new testaments and the quran are a big bunch of human-made rubbish.

The way you explain it all looks very cold indeed. But did you know that God Himself says through Paul in 1 Timothy 2:4 that He "wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth"? Did you read: "ALL"! You and Him agree completely in this!
"Why would you wish hell on any human being?" you wrote. God doesn't wish it onyone! Neither do I nor you. It's great to agree on this too!

Smile, he also said that not everyone that says lord lord will enter into his fathers kingdom. This means that not everyone that shouts at the top of his lungs I LOVE THE LORD!!!!! will enter into heaven. This is why I never try to judge anyone. Even idiotic extremist atheistic leader authors who dont put citations in their books :)D sorry , my mischievious side coming out)

It's a good thing that God takes the time in between influencing events like the weather.... to care about each of our over 6 billion lives. Because with all the things going on in the universe his top concern is whether or not we've been bad or good for goodness sake so we can get our reward.

    Reminds me of someone....

Opps, I forget also to write books without citations.
The 4 horsemen of neo-atheism have ridden again!!!!!

    Hi pongpong123
You know a lot of true stuff! :) I quote the passage you mention below. Interesting what Jesus had to say about them, isn't it?
I chose what I do by the outcome I prefer! How about you?

Matthew 7:21-29 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!' "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash." When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.

How do you know that His "top concern is whether or not we've been bad or good"?
I was told that too until I found out I was lied to! That made me furious! How could people let me believe that!!! I understand now that they don't know better ... and never took time to read the book, His word! They are missing the mark!

Exactly smile, most of these people never even picked up the bible or just brought out 1 or 2 half verses in which it suited their hidden agendas to post against the bible. I do not put down any religious book as I have a respect for all peoples beliefs .

I pulled god's beard when I was a kid and he punched me in the face. That's why I became an atheist.

You're getting so desperate to inject Christopher Hitchens into every discussion you participate in that you're looking the like the drunk here.

Seriously dude, what the hell does that have to do with what I said? :D

It's becoming crystal clear that you've found something to do that doesn't require you to have to make sense of the patently absurd thing you call religion and you're clinging to it for dear life. Sad to watch :(

George if you took the time to make yourself useful enough to read my posts and see what I believe in, I always said that people will be very surprised at who will be in heaven and who wont be in heaven. I never would be arrogant enough to pass that kind of judgment on anyone. Every night I pray for every human being to make it to heaven. Heck I even pray for my poodle that passed away to make it there. Why would I pray for something like that. It sounds so neo-atheistic. They are the ones rediculing others, and not the moderates of all people on this earth of all beliefs. My belief is that my god has great love, compassion and empathy.

Now You may have seen me trounce a few extremist athiests in debates on dp, but I have done that with extremists religious posters as well. Im not into extremism of any kind. You may let atheists go and come down hard on religious people, but if you wanna be a hypocrite its all good.

On a good note hitchens has been debunked and none of his fanatical fans even mention him anymore.:D

Logicflux im sure god still loves you my buddy, but he also told me not to debunk anyone on mossadegh anymore. Unfortunately debunking was very easy on that one lol

"He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who
does not believe will be condemned." (Mark 16:16 RSV)

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the
life; no one comes to the Father, but by me.
    (John 14:6 RSV)

Alwiser , I believe in jesus so your preaching to the choir here my friend:), but jesus also said this too.

    Matthew 7:21
Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

The key here is jesus spoke with incredible compassion when he said "but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven."

    Remember this verse also

What kind of mental case would want to live forever? Do you realise how long "forever" is?

You get one life, don't waste it pointlessly begging for another one.

the ironic thing is, hypothetically, if there is a god he would no doubt want you to live your life as though he didn't exist. i.e not doing good because of a celestial reward/punishment system and living your life now as though it's all you get. But what do the religious do? They constantly try to please their god as though he wouldn't know how insincere their actions were and how selfish they are with their cravings for just a little more.

"please sir, can i have another life? i wasted this one on my knees with my arse in the air wailing like a dog whos got his cock caught in a lawnmower."
