Selling uBlurbit.com - IM/Link Building Site - Great Idea - 791 Registered Members

The idea behind this website is simple. Almost two years ago I launched uBlurbit.com, a WordPress powered blog that has a different take on things. This blog allows users to sign up for free and make their own post, they get a limited account so they may do nothing but create and edit their own posts while you have full admin controls. It currently has 791 registered members, which are primarily webmasters/marketers who create blog posts in order to place backlinks to their website(s). Basically every time a user makes a post they get to do their thing, promote their post/etc. and you, as the owner of uBlurbit.com, get free traffic from these niche related posts. The layout is simple and clean looking with professional graphics and some modifications to the theme to make it vey Web 2.0ish. Go ahead and take a look now at http://www.uBlurbit.com


The website currently does a very steady 13K UVs a month, which is low but I have highly neglected it for most of this past year. A few months of promotion to webmasters and you can easily get things up and running again.

This website has some great potential. I have done no advertising/promotion at all in over a year so everything you see is natural. You could easily improve upon the currently level of users, which results in more natural traffic as well.

My income is hard to say. I promote a webmaster program for spamming forum private messages (http://www.nouru.com) but do not have any tracking on the banner. I do not have AdSense or any other sort of ads at all so please assume zero income. However, I am sure some AdSense units could easily pick you up some $$. The theory here is that the posts that users make then rank for all kinds of different long tail keywords generating organic Google traffic so AdSense would most likely be your best bet.

Basically I was planning on holding this site and developing it further but never really had the time. I need some fast cash so if I get a decent offer will be willing to sell it. If I do not receive a good offer in the next 2 days or so then I will hold it.

Attached are some proofs. The first is monthly traffic for 2009. The second is referrer data which will show that the majority of the traffic comes from Bing/Google/Yahoo with the rest made up of many sources such as ezine articles and individual blog posts of people hyping this site (there were many on IM blogs during launch nearly two years ago so they still trickle in traffic). Also social networks, especially stumbleupon.com, contribute traffic. This is the great thing about this site, your users not only provide 100% of your content but they also promote their own blogs posts!

I am asking to start the bidding for this website at a low $75. Just the site itself with the member base (791 Internet marketers to appeal to, plus they stuck in their e-mails which you have access to) and no traffic should be worth more than that. All reasonable BIN offers will be considered as well.

This price of course includes the domain as well as all of the WP files and a backed up database of the entire blog. Basically you get everything and can have it running just as is quickly.

 

Why would you sell, if you think your website has great potential??

I'm heavily into CPA these days and don't really work on any of my sites at all. I need some cash in the next couple of days and wont be getting my deposit before then so I thought I'd sell this site. If I don't get a decent offer I will just hold it though. I really like the idea and feel like someone should take it that can put a little time into her and make it something big.

Other possible ideas for monetizing:
Charge a fee to register - one time fee then they get to post as much as they like, sure beats paying a few dollars for a single blog post.
Lock the sign up page - use a gateway - cpa lead/bhcb - so the user has to fill out a CPA offer to sign up.

Personally I think the key to the whole thing is it being free though so I would just go with AdSense.

Good catch. Have fixed it. My FTP access was compromised some time ago and someone put javascript that forces a popup on some of my pages. Just removed it, not terribly harmful to begin with but it is now clean, please take another look (and refresh your browser ). Thanks again for pointing that out must have overlooked this site when I did my cleanup.

Yes it is using wordpress and my friend PR means nothing. It used to be a PR4 but as I have built no links in more than a year it dropped, I'm sure you could get it back up there quickly.
