Develope Links for Pages Besides My Home Page?

Is it important and/or useful to build links for pages on my site besides my home page? It is my home page that is page 1 for my keyword of choice, but the post relating to said keyword is on page 3 (with no backlink work being done).

I'm not talking about just the above instance, but in general (although I would like advice as to the above scenario). What benefit is there to me building backlinks to other posts of my blog instead of using that same time to work on my home page?

I'm not too interested in getting views on the random blog post as this at the current time means nothing in terms of traffic.

Absolutely! Every page on your site should be treated as a separate entity that is relative to your main/homepage. Pages should be created using different keywords and long tail keyword phrases.

As more pages are created, you can link pages within your site to each other using anchor links. Remember to link your pages to your blogs, Squidoo lens or HubPages with anchor links too.

Whenever you hear about saving large lists of keywords that you have gleaned from your keyword research, there is a reason for this. Use each keyword as the main focus for each page you create. The keywords are all related by the theme of your site, yet each page would be focused on a different keyword.

For example, your website is about dog training. One page may be about clicker training, another may be about training border collies, and yet another may be about crate training. Each page is about dog training, but the keyword is different and has a different focus.

The page that is about clicker training could be linked to a Squidoo lens about clicker training as the page about training border collies could be linked to a Squidoo lens about border collies. Get the idea?

    Hope this helps.

If you never build any backlinks to any page other than your homepage (and nobody else does either) then your site will not look natural.

You need to build backlinks to at least a few pages on your site.

This applies even more if you want to have a "double indent" listing on google.

I would caution against buying backlinks. That use to work, but Google is pretty smart and catches on to it very quickly these days.

Also, buying links to unsavory and spammy sites will hurt you more than you will ever benefit.

    Thanks konagirl.

Is there a specific method you can use to help get yourself a double indent listing?

Wasn't planning on buying, just building.

    Hi Indian hawk,

You first need to begin creating more pages for your website and linking them to each other, but it gets more specific than that. Here is a link to an Andy Jenkins video (Stompernet) that explains it all. Andy explains things so much better than I can in a short amount odf space. I have learn quit a bit from him in the past and still refer back to his videos and his "The Net Effect" magazine when I need a refresher course.

    http://www.stompernet.net/goingnatural2/

Be sure to bookmark the video for future reference and click the other links on the page to watch and learn from the other videos that he gives away for free.

I don't know if you have ever heard of Stompernet, but a membership cost around $800 a month and the membership is closed to new members at the moment. Whenever they have an opening, the slots fill up within minutes so take advantage of the free videos.

    Hope this helps!

I should have pretty strong links throughout already seeing as it's a wordpress blog. A little more work needs to be done on the linking structure within the site, but I think I'm doing pretty good so far. I'll watch those videos tomorrow, thanks for the help.

You should be linking to your other pages too from within the content of your pages. You should watch this video too. It is really an eye opener.
