Will Submitting an article to many directories help or harm?

    Hello Guys,

    1. I have some articles to publish on online article directories. In term of SEO (backlinks), is better to publish the article on 1 single directory or to publish it over 100 directories?

    2. Which software can submit the article in a semi automatic way to those directories?

    Thank you.

Its better for you to publish it in one article directory. One unique article for one directory in my opinion is the best way.

Google hates duplicate content. My advise it to submit the original to a quality article directory, like ezinearticles, and then spin/rewrite and submit the 'different' articles to the lesser directories. You'll need to edit your spun articles for grammer/etc.

You would need to make the article as unique as possible for each directory you submit it to.

I would just stick with the top 5 or 10 directorys.

To get extra link love, get backlinks to the articles on the article sites as well.

agree with the above comments. I've just written an article on this subject on ezines. PM me if you're interested in reading it. I then plan to write some variations on it and then submit to many 2 or 3 other places.

Use something like Power Article Rewriter to spin your articles and submit to the lower end article directories after sending the original to ezinearticles. It has worked very well for me.

Publishing to 100 will be much better and 100% will not get any penalty. If you get a penalty then next time submit 5 articles for each of your competitiors to 500 directories. That should have them penalised for a decade :)

Submitting to hundreds of directories is not really a good use of time anymore. Submitting a couple of related, quality directories is fine but I wouldn't spend too much time on it.

Besides, it may take a few weeks for the engines to update the backlink report.

i would only submit to the top ten directories. Write diffferent versions of the article and submit to the top ten. they can be a good source of traffic as well.

If you think that submitting the same thing to several sites will penalize you -- just take into consideration how the associated press works. they write the story and then 2,000 + newspapers put it on their site. These sites are not penalized for it.

Will these sites rank for that article and who ranks first -- that is another story.

Why just submit to 100? Why not 1000? You can submit the same article to thousands of directories, and that's fine. Duplicate contents outside of your site cannot sink your site, otherwise why bother SEO? Just use software to blast a million links of your competitor with spam text and say goodbye to them! This is not how SEO works!

Google sees an article, then another one exactly like it, what it does, is adds the relevancy score and page rank to the one that they found first or have most authority and pass the link juice to you. As for spinning, this is to trick search engine, but usually Google is smart enough to pick up most of the spun version if you are just alternating words in the article. Has to be complete rewrites. Even that, page juice and relevancy score, in theory, should be identical to an unspun article submitted to the same number of directories.
