Can anyone tell me what the maximum amount of footer links you shoudl have before it is considered "too spammy?" I am having issues getting my site 100% indexed and one of the reasons someone told me on Google Webmaster Tool Forum was that it's because i have to many footer links and it's too spammy. I have 90 links and a keyword density of 11% for one Key word and 9% for a second key word. Anyone agree with the true behind this...is it too much? What is an ideal number? Thanks for your ideas? its difficult to say without site url but 90 links in footer....its look like spam google will penalized you for that...........as per my knowledge
I can't remember where, but I think sitepoint, but google all but ignores footer links according to that article. t
I would say no more than twenty .You can always make a page with links listed there and have it linked in the footer.
I wouldn't worry about it too much if most of the links were internal, of course if you have too many links to external sites, especially blacklisted ones, that's never good.
Do you think anyone would actually bother to read 90 links? Even if they were the Most Awesome Topics and all things I had an interest in, I wouldn't read all of them. Would you? Why not use that as a rule of thumb? 20 could even be pushing it.
