Hey all, Just released my latest project. Still working on a few things and some kinks here and there, but I wanted to get some reviews on it and maybe a few members to jump in and test everything out. I've tested it extensively, but you never know what could come up, right? Anyway, here it is: http://www.screwmywork.com It's similar to the whole "fmylife" site. Not worrying about redesigning it until it picks up some speed, tho. The whole idea with this is that it's a place for people who work in office jobs and other careers around the world to come to and vent about anything regarding their job. They can also share stories of office drama, revenge, pranks, basically anything and everything involving the workplace. There are a lot of things different though, such as no post requiring anything to "start" or "end" with. More of a collection of funny or embarrassing stories, similar to "mini-blogging" nonetheless. Check it out and let me know what you think!
There is currently no content, because it's all user-created. Sure, I could create a bunch of fake accounts and make up fake stories to "get things going", but I wanted people here to check it out and even join if they wish, just to test things out before I really officially launch the site. Thanks for looking though buddy.
Looking at the two posts that are on your site I noticed a few things. Under the post there is "#4 (0) - Aug 29, 2009 12:11 AM by bigslick87 - Sex At Work - Yep. My job sucks! (6) - You should probably be fired (4)". On most sites these are links to other articles and the numbers are the number of comments. On your site these are not articles and the number counts up every time some one clicks. I'm lost as to what these links do and why they are there. The only way I can make a comment is to click on the #4. I would have never have done this as I was just looking around seeing what stuff does what. Lastly once I click on the #4 to leave a comment I noticed your banner drops from being over the post to being under the post. This may be by design to help separate the post from the comment section, but personally the inconsistency in the pages makes it look off.
I appreciate your comments. Are you familiar with fmylife.com? This is run off a very similar platform. Those numbers you see next to what you're referencing to are the number of people who have clicked on those links, nonetheless, "voting" for whether or that person did wrong (be fired) or is in a crappy position (I would hate to have your job). The number next to that is for comments, just as it is on fmylife.com. Also, the banner is placed in there as such, because due to the design, it doesn't fit above the main menu. Just doesn't look right up there. Hope that clears things up...This site is geared towards those users that use sites like fmylife.com, but I may explain the site in a FAQ section a little better so people who aren't used to these types of sites can understand them a little more. Thanks for opening my eyes to that though...I think a FAQ section would be excellent, so I'm gonna jump on that here this weekend
Site is still under some developmental bumps....Can anyone else throw in their 2 cents if you have a moment? Any suggestions/ideas to make the user experience better? I've made a few changes here and there since I last updated. Also, does anyone know of any great affiliate networks that would have offers related to the job industry (i.e. ads for Monster.com or CareerBuilder or maybe a resume service, etc.)? I'm using Adsense currently, but want to get rid of it...
