It's the best if you want a directory that looks like everyone elses, and are prepared to mod the crap out of it to get some decent features.
http://www.reuters.com/article/oddlyEnoughNews/idUSN2249853620080523 KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Reuters) - A Missouri car dealer said on Thursday sales have soared at his auto and truck business since launching a promotion this week that promises buyers a free handgun or a $250 gas card with every purchase.
Why don't you read what was said again, eh? You'll find that I'm talking about Gun Manufacturer (script owner... got it?) and not some trigger happy moron car dealer Can you see the difference? fastreplies
Not any more. It used to be but with all the mods that HAVE to be done on it, it ends up being a lot more expensive than the $35. The $35 version is not that great IMO.
Have you ever used any other directory scripts? There's a lot of one-line posters on digitalpoint that just drop in and say "PHPLD is the best..." or "I like PHPLD...." without saying anything else - has anyone else noticed this? Seems a bit unhelpful, especially so in this thread as the title clearly says "EXCEPT PHPLD".
There are half a dozen good scripts other than phpld - To reasonably recommend any one really needs to know more about the site you want to put up... Just a few are subrion, tolra, esyndicat, edirectory and on.... I would focus on checking those that don't offer free versions first.
Well we kinda disagree there. I've been with eSyndiCat since the very beginning days. Top notch crew there. But I know you endorse Subrion. Which is good. But you do know they offer a free version without all the bells and whistles.
There's been plenty mentioned in this thread. Eg, my earlier post about SBD Directory Software. As swedal has said, it does depend on your needs. For example, if you're starting a general free directory and plan on getting a lot of submissions [they do] you might want to check out my script - as it has a bunch of options for filtering spam and bad/poor submissions [of which you will also get lots of]. That's on top of a whole lot of other options. I would suggest you play around with demos or at the very least read over the list of functions on any script before you decide.
Are there any scripts that come cloese to comparing with eDirectory without the hefty price tag in terms of aestetic appeal?
someone on a different forum mentioned gossamer threads. It's very expensive, but still less than half as expensive as edirectory.
I am using esyndicat after I tried two really bad ones, I can affirm that esyndicat is for me the best. I created www.submit-url-add.com (PR3) with it
