I'll go for firefox just for the available useful addons such as xmarks, flashgot, downthemall, autopager, etc.

Some of us today did a speed test and the verdic is that chrome is slower than IE8. We never checked firefox. Your antivirus is what protects you. Try both browsers with this speed test and you will see IE8 is faster than chrome.

Neat test, haven't seen that before. As for the best browser, they all serve a purpose, IE being the browser you use to test your website, swear at the computer for the CSS being wrong and eventually go crazy due to said activity. Firefox runs just as good, has tons of incredibly helpful ad ons (especially for SEO and being an arcade webmaster, downloading swf's directly and so on). Firefox wins hands down just because of it's customization.

Not yet used IE8. But, I keep all browsers and when one of them fails, the other helps. Currently I prefer Opera and chrome over FF and IE.

Well yeah, you could say the same about being shot and bulletproof vests, but most people would rather avoid neighborhoods where they're likely to get shot, even if they are protected... and IE gets shot at by bad guys more often than all the others put to together. :)

Have you tried the latest Firefox 3.5 ? It uses a new JavaScript engine . It pretty faster in page load and require less memory than earlier versions .

Internet Explorer will always remain a piece of junk. I will not use it... stay far far away from Active X.

Well, I've noticed Firefox been off it's game lately and IE been more powerful and speed is good.
Also, never crashes. But, Firefox has better safety and I just love the look & feel of Firefox. :)!

What does "more powerful" mean, anyway? There are so many angles there that it comes down to personal preference if you're going to use "power" as a means of deciding.

Firefox's speed, security, and extensibility make it far superior in my opinion. Current betas are nice too, though there aren't many new features, just perhaps some more speed.

Then stay away from the internet and never leave your house.:)

Going on the internet without a good antivirus is EXACTLY like walking alone into a neighborhood where you are likely to get shot.

Been using IE8 for a few months now and although I like it and it is faster than ie7, it hangs when opening a link in a new tab 7 out of 10 times.

Safari 4 is my second most used broswer.

    i get the same problem

opening a new tab takes a age... not sure why (should be a simple task really)

in regard to firefox being slow at times - its not surprising when alot of people have so many addons installed.

for me the only issue with firefox is memory usage - if they manage to solve this it would be the perfect browser in my eyes.

Yes Chrome is faster (but not by much ) and to be honest most will not even notice it - especially give that many have high speed internet connections now.

I don't understand why IE8 loads slow for me. Is that a problem of IE8 or wrong with my PC.

Comparing to IE8 ,Firefox is faster and reliable.

Agreed. Plus I view it this way, as long as IE is the majority browser used by a portion of the population that is generally less knowledgeable, the malware folks will take advantage of that. Though as Firefox has become more popular it is becoming problematic.
