Hi Built 99% of my site with microsoft frontpage, I know lots of people hate it but I love it and find it easy to use. Has anyone and good tips for using frontpage? I find it hard opening up multiple pages as "control A" does not seem to work when opening the pages, does anyone know if you can open up several pages at once without having to go to file/open/ browse to directory- for every single page? Thanks in advance
just control clik all the pages you want to open and click open ... assuming that your pages are in the same file......
I have used it for years (not as a wsywig, but just for straight coding) and I find that FINALLUY the most recent version (2003 as far as I know) seems to be up to par. Lots of bugs in the older versions, but I find the new one good. compare with dreamweaver though - its all the same - just depends on what you know better. Personally, i use it for the color coding, and the way it interfaces with my web hosting (no uploading files all the time, just save directlu.)
That does not work on mine I can only select of page at once from the folder, this is why I asked as I thought there was a special way of doing it instead of control/ control "a"
I tried doing what Morphiex suggested and it only opens one file even though I selected multiple ones. Back to your original statement ultimatehandyman I just want to say that I totally agree with you on FrontPage. It still gets so much criticism, but the 2003 version is great and has a lot of the same features as Dreamweaver.
I love frontpage... But, a couple of my sites use CSS and frontpage is very bad with that. However, I think it is the quickest to edit in.
I have both frontpage and Dreamweaver but I find frontpage so much easier to use, the only thing that annoys me is trying to open up multiple pages. Each time I click on file/open it always comes up with an error message about memory, despite me having 1.5 Gb? Apart from that I find it extremely easy to use. Dreamweaver has some great feautures but it takes me a lot longer to do something using it.
Yah thats right! Frontpage is much easier to use but you can easily edit CSS and PHP sites using Dreamweaver.
I had a problem a while back with FP and memory on my old PC. After I increased my virtual memory, the problem disappeared. Couldn't walk you through that as it has been a couple years, but that might do the trick. Not sure how familiar you are with FP, but if you haven't closed the page it is accessible from "Window" on the toolbar. In 2003 they are tabbed so you may not need this. As to Version, 2003 is the latest version of FrontPage. This is scheduled to be the final version of FP which will be replaced by Expression Web Designer later this year (supposedly). Expression is supposed to be more CSS compliant and say no to the extensions from what I hear.
